So what? I'm 69 going on 70. I saw him kill the Artful Dodger role in Oliver on Broadway in 1963 and I'm happy being one of the millions of little girls who were going to marry him! He was a born entertainer and always made his audience happy. It's only too unfortunate that no one noticed his voice weaken, no longer holding his long notes, that were the clue to his heart problem. But thank goodness for all of the recordings that will keep him alive in our hearts.❤

This particular performance of "It's Not Too Late" is probably my favorite performance of Davy's, either live or studio recorded, with or without The Monkees.

I was a Monkee mania fan! Davy, I think, improved with age! He shared later in his life that he grew up in the church. Said his mother was the organist and sister worked in the youth group and their life revolved around the church when he grew up. I liked the wholesomeness and premise of the TV show when I was a teenager--good influence, guys! John 3: 16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. verse 17 - For God didn't send his son into the world to condemn the world, but that through Him the world might be saved.

This is an amazing track of not too late, once again he picks the very most difficult diction and shows us how it is really done. Then a song which should have been a crossover country hit! That's why I always put him down as an American icon, because he embraced Americana even in his own writing.

A beautiful romantic song. I hear it and just feel so incredibly sad. From things that were on t.v. with Dr. Phil and his daughters I don't think Davey was treated like he should have been. He just seemed sad. With so many of us in love with him I wish he would have found someone who loved him not his money. What a special way to have someone love you.
Loved him for years ever since I watched The zMonkees as a young teen. Love his voice & he’s still so good looking. Still a heart throb after all this time.♥️

I hate to be a downer but did anyone notice this is dated about 3 weeks before he died? Is the date on this the showing date or the posting date?
@garotadagavea3 жыл бұрын
It is the posting date. He said he had been singing others' songs for 30 years. He started at 18. He is at most 50 here. He died when he was 66.
