In this video, Richard Dawkins and Alex O'Connor discuss what Dawkins calls "The most evil idea in the New Testament" & then a Christian uses the Bible to react to this claim. I hope you find this beneficial and encouraging... and.. dare I say... convicting.

As a former atheist, I used to revere Dawkins, but after being saved and watching this I realize how ignorant he is on the Bible which is striking to me now. He’s obviously a very intelligent person which makes it even more striking. He’s clearly never read or made an attempt to understand the Bible before making his claims which is in itself very unscientific!

It's really quite appalling, particularly: the pride. It just exudes from him, as though from his very pours. I, as well, struggle to see what I used to revere in the man. Perhaps it was just the reflection of my own pride, and my own desire to destroy, that was working in me. It's really quite pitiable - a tragedy, of sorts.

I think when we are young, that rebellious energy attract us. When we grow old, it looks very cringe, and Dawkins looks like someone that never grew up. Most people i know that had problems with religious stuff in their life were when they were teens and had rigid parents, once they left their house, religion never made a difference for them to be so rebellious. That is why i assume (of course, not generalize) that when there is a bitter atheist, that this person is very likely teen. However, when i was atheist, i still disliked Dawkins, because i was skeptic enough to be skeptic to some of his claims and i disliked his arrogance. But i had this energy in the atheist community of the time.

As a former Atheist... and for some reason although I didn't believe in God or specifically Jesus Christ... I hated Christ, and always had this uncontrollable smirk when I mocked Jesus, or refuted Christianity... you can clearly see the same slight smirk/the same spirit in Dawkins in the beginning when he mentions "Jesus' death" - "Greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world." This is the evidence: "The prince of the power of the air (Satan) works through the sons of disobedience..." - Also, how you can refute something when you haven't even gone through the effort of actually studying that which you try to refute is purely Satan blinding you from the Truth... this man is advanced in his years and close to death... let us continually pray he finds Jesus Christ before he dies... for Every knee shall bow, and every tongue shall confess Jesus is LORD, whether they believe in Him or not, and if your name is not written in the book of life, I fear it the 2nd death eternal death that awaits you. In my understanding of this passage is that followers of Christ will not find peace even with their own families and friends who don't follow Christ. There will be separation between people who believe in God and people who don't and want to fight with followers of Christ. We fight a spiritual war. There is no peace with the world when you follow Christ. We will find ourselves at odds with non believers and that is a fact. Matthew 10:33-36 King James Version 33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. 34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. 35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. 36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

@CMVMic There should be. I worked for FOF3 Naval Intelligence, HMS Hermes, 1982. My testimony is God saved me twice: the first on the lower decks on an aircraft carrier when I gave God six weeks to change my life (1) and the second time, physically, to stop me falling 6 decks down at an unsecured hatch at anchor, in a River, Lisbon, Portugal -- witnessed by 4 men - 11 months later. Right behind me. They didn't reach me in time - but Jesus did. He appeared out of thin air, grabbed me, moved me to safety and then vanished. Right in front of them. (2) - which, with hindsight was pretty good staging for what transpired over the next 40 years from that day. My experience is God doesn't break the laws of physics for everyone. Nor does He explain Himself before during or after. Faith is still the prime tool - as in exercise thereof. I just find that easier than most ever will. Elsewhere, you state Jesus is dead, get over it. No, He isn't.

As an agnostic, I think I can see the beauty of the Cross, but the people who decide turn from their sins for Jesus' sake, still don't deserve to not pay for their sins. I mean they should pay for them, but not eternally, but as long as they need. There's evidence that the so-called born again Christians still sin every day. If entering heaven demands perfection from every and each of us, a substitutionary payment won't solve any problems. It's basically cheating the system. I know Christians argue that people who were born again in this life, will become perfect after their resurrection, but as long as they are the same person with memories from this life, they are prone to fall into sin over and over again even in heaven! There's a huge contradiction there! Just how we can solve that if we must believe we will be the same person after our resurrection and not some other people who will resemble us, but won't have our memories?

@nitsujism Respectfully, I hardly think that modem courts are where we should seek the standard for justice. God is the standard. Jesus gave His life to pay the price for our sins. What an incredible thing for Him to do for us. And it satisfied God's perfect justice. We know that because God raised him from the dead to show that he had paid the penalty for sin. The only reason that Jesus could do that was because he didn't have to pay a penalty for his own sin, so he could pay the penalty in place of us.
@nitsujism

@@user-re9kr3el3c The courts do just fine with justice. Even if they're not perfect, the idea of justice is leap years ahead of the Christian idea of justice which frankly just harks back to a more barbaric time. Jesus didn't give anything. He was captured by the Romans and killed. His followers did not expect this to happen so rather than ditch the cult they concocted a story about human sacrifice. This paying for sins with sacrifices business is just made up to save face. It's amazing that people fall for it.

@@nitsujism When Jesus made his final trip to Jerusalem for Passover, he knew that he was going to die, but he went anyway. When he went to the garden to pray, he knew that Judas was going to betray him and turn him over to the Jewish leaders. He didn't hide or try to evade them. When he stood before the high priest and the Sanhedrin council, he said nothing in his own defense. When he stood before Pilate and later Herod, he said nothing in his own defense. When Pilate again tried to get Jesus to give him a reason to let him go, he would not. Yes, Jesus gave his life. It was not taken from him. (John 10:17-18). As for the disciples "saving face" by concocting "a story about human sacfifice" to pay for sin, you are right that the disciples didn't seem to expect Jesus to be crucified, even though he had told them he must die repeatedly. It seems pretty unlikely that they made this up, though, for many reasons. Among them is the fact that most of them would be shunned, imprisoned, and killed for their profession of belief in Jesus. Given the way the Christian message spread over the next 30 years and beyond, despite immense persecution, it seems much more likely that they truly believed it.

Restitution must be given equal to the damages done. But sin against an infinitely holy God demands infinite restitution. No way can man pay. That’s the Human Dilemma. Only an infinitely holy person can atone. Only God. He didn’t have to, but He had to. And He did. God’s mercy satisfied His justice by His sacrifice. God will not be outdone by man in sacrificial love. So yes. God died in the flesh. He will judge us, as one of us. That’s fair. And no, God did not cease to exist. The Trinity.

@@joeleniola9140you might want to start gathering up to date facts and grouping them together, to compare against your current understanding that it's a fairly tale and you will likely be surprised. Instead of looking at the Bible as an umbrella that covers everything, start gathering facts about the Bible and modern science and think of each of these as a brick, one on top of another, building the case for it likely being true, it starts making a lot more sense that way.

It’s interesting how Dawkins refers to science as universal, and that religions aren’t, but the word “Catholic” comes from the Greek word “katholikos” which means universal or all-embracing.
@PastPresented

And of course the catch is that no religious body is universal, whereas, for example, gravity is, and water molecules always consist of 2 atoms of hydrogen plus 1 of oxygen. Etc.

Universal religion is Antichrist. The Catholic church is a Luciferian cult. Keeping the commandments for salvation, praying to Mary and confessing to a "father" who is not Jesus Christ is completely unbiblical.

What's hideous is the alleged purpose of the sacrifice. The claim about redemption from Original Sin seems to be derived from a cynical attempt by Church authorities to extend the life of the Jesus cult beyond the timespan implied in Mark 13.

@@PastPresented What's hideous is your ignorance about it all. The purpose of the sacrifice is to give mankind the possibility to be with God after having rejected God. @@joeleniola9140 Will you be ready? He wants us to be ready at all times. Luke 12:40, "You too, be ready: because the Son of Man will come at an hour you do not think He will." If we knew when Jesus is coming back we would live the way we want up to that point, and not be ready or see the urgency to turn to Jesus. Paul was used by God to write some of the books in the Bible, but Scripture is now closed off to additional books (Revelation 22:18-19). This was my thought before knowing Jesus. I would live for myself up to the point just before I die, and then repent of my sins and turn to Jesus. It didn't happen that way. God doesn't promise us we will even be given that moment, so like Jesus said, we need to be ready at all times.
