Considering her argument, we can completely forget and abandon all written historical records, as they "might just be inventions" after all.
@edwebber679
@edwebber679 10 ай бұрын
That wasn't her argument. Her argument as well as many skeptics and even historians is that you can't use biased sources, especially one source, to confirm itself. For example writing that there were witnesses to an event, is not the same as witnesses writing their own accounts, which is why the bible stating that there were 500 witnesses to the resurrected Jesus isn't impressive. It's like going to court, the cross examiner asks you "Did you witness the murder?" You say, "No, but there were a dozen people who saw it and I spoke with all of them." Prosecutor asks, "Did you get their information or invite them here to give testimony?" and he says, "No, but take my word for it, they were there!" A jury and a judge wouldn't consider that very convincing. Historians looking at events, places, times, etc...use multiple sources, especially independent or even rival sources to confirm things. In the case of the bible, you have nothing written about Jesus during his life and then finally 3-4 decades later, supposedly interview some witnesses and we are just supposed to believe it. I'm sorry, but that's not compelling to me any more than someone telling me that Mohammed split the moon in two and the crater impacts are proof, as well as the eye witness testimonies of people living at the time. Those are clearly emotionally invested biased sources and you will need more than just claims to prove that the moon was split and then reformed.

There is actual evidence of most historical events. There is almost none other than testimonials for the bible. its seems convenient. You can prove people in the past existed based on documentation, and archaeological evidence, but nothing other than words for people being healed, resurrected. The point is, there is no proof other than "I believe".

@@edwebber679 What you presented to me seems to be coherent and is called constructivism. We should always value the greatest variety of witnesses and possible evidence. But I am specifically referring to the phrase (which I have used when I was an atheist): "What if the Bible is just an invented story?" Apart from that, I agree with everything else.

I was at a gas station where a man being chased by cops took a hostage outside at the gas pump. In the end, the suspect didn't make it out alive. Before the officers started taking statements from witnesses (about 20 people) I could hear different witnesses talking about different details that they noticed. Some people focused on other details that others didn't notice. Even though the details varied from person to person, the incident definitely happened.

@@stevenbatke2475the difference between Matthew Mark and Luke is the difference between the kingdom of heaven and the kingdom of God. They're not the same and it's with intent. John is another subject in and of itself. It contains the account but also the gospel and some doctrine. Jesus knew all along that Israel would reject him but still had to offer them the promised covenant. When John the Baptist was condemned, Jesus switch from preaching the kingdom of heaven to preaching the kingdom of God. In all the parables in Mathew, a person can run out of the Holy Spirit and in Matthew, they have to work to be saved. In Mark Luke and John, those conditions don't exist. They aren't simply similar accounts, they're subtle differences in modifications to a three and a half year ministry to different cities and different cultures and separate covenants.

God is a killler in the OT not the NT. Jesus attempted to soften the old man up a bit. YHWH killed offer 2 million in the book. El was the supreme god of the Canaanites. As head god, El was married to Ashera, and he was the father of Baal, Anat, Yahweh, and Yam. YHWH was often seen in the form of a bull, and he was sometimes also referred to as Shor-El, the bull god. Yahweh is described as one of the sons of El in Deuteronomy 32:8-9, but this was removed by a later emendation to the text. Still exists on older texts. The Bible Says So! ----------------- 1 Samuel 15:1-35 ESV And Samuel said to Saul, “The Lord sent me to anoint you king over his people Israel; now therefore listen to the words of the Lord. Thus says the Lord of hosts, ‘I have noted what Amalek did to Israel in opposing them on the way when they came up out of Egypt. Now go and strike Amalek and devote to destruction all that they have. Do not spare them, but kill both man and woman, child and infant, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.’” So Saul summoned the people and numbered them in Telaim, two hundred thousand men on foot, and ten thousand men of Judah. And Saul came to the city of Amalek and lay in wait in the valley. 2 Kings 15:16 At that time Menahem sacked Tiphsah and all who were in it and its territory from Tirzah on, because they did not open it to him. Therefore he sacked it, and he ripped open all the women in it who were pregnant. Psalm 137:9 ESV Blessed shall he be who takes your little ones and dashes them against the rock! Leviticus 20:27 ESV “A man or a woman who is a medium or a necromancer shall surely be put to death. They shall be stoned with stones; their blood shall be upon them.” =============== YHWH is a bloodbath deity.

People have not been convinced of any god, of thusands. If the Abrahamic Gods were real (ihe Jews had two Gods) and the bible was proven facts, many would and have walked away from it. Many say that if God was real and the bible was fact, that god is not worthy of their time, a mass murdering / killing / genocidal racist and narcissist. Where as in the same bible, the devil tends to be against god and his actions. What sounds better god, the devil or not accepting religion as true / not being religious due to lack of testable proof?

I watched this video the night before last and at the end I imagined you were praying for me too. I grew up Christian but have gone back and forth with doubts. The word that stuck out to me was “undeniable”. I wanted to see God in that way too. So yesterday, I was getting off an emotional FaceTime call where I got bad news about a family member and I was walking my dog and I was crying. I was trying to hide it but I couldn’t help it and I was especially upset because I felt really alone in that moment. I’ve felt alone a lot lately. Anyway, a man was parked on the street on the opposite side and said “excuse me! Can I give you something?” And my immediate response was no that’s ok thank you but he insisted and hurriedly walked toward me and handed me a church flier for a church nearby and told me that no matter what I’m going through that God loves me and will never leave me and I will get through what I’m going through. And he mentioned Jesus also and I felt like that was God showing himself to me and letting me know that he is with me. I’m happy I stumbled across this channel.

It's foolish 4 people to think that because you are god rules don't apply to me. That is one of the reasons god revealed himself as the Son. The one who is obedient even to the point of death. He didnt say because I am God the rules of men do not apply to me. Philippians 2:5-8 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Psalms 138:2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name. That is why God does not speak the way we men speak because he knows if he says something it becomes law. That is also why Jesus said, "Every idle word will be brought into the judgement. By your words will you be justified and by your words will you be condemned." Every word you judge by you will be measured by it to see whether you also followed what you said. So the lesson here is to be slow to speak and quick to listen and observe. God gave us two ears, two eyes and one mouth. May the Lord Jesus be gracious to us and mouths.

She's an example of someone pretending to want logic and evidence but then rejecting it when anyone reveals she's wrong. The goalposts are constantly shifting. The best example is when she said "current science" - but if the current science looks pro-atheist she accepts it without question. Once you notice how much of atheist arguments is them pretending to care about what is and isn't true, and you take it seriously, you hear nothing but shame tactics whenever they speak. And then you disregard them because abuse proves nothing about what is and isn't true.

Even though this obviously can go both ways, I've seen this a lot on the atheist side. One of the most common arguments you'll see the layman atheist use is "extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence" without being able to define extraordinary evidence. A common analogy they use is "If you say you have a dog, I can believe you, but if you say you have a dragon, I'm going to need more evidence than just your word." This makes word-of-mouth ordinary evidence, okay, but what would you need to prove a dragon exists? Probably video evidence of you interacting with the dragon, having the video analyzed to see if any CGI or any other model generated medium was used, and/or cutting off a piece of the dragon and flying it to the skeptic. How is any of that extraordinary though? What's the criteria for evidence being extraordinary? For it to have any relevance, it would have to be something that can't fluctuate from person to person, so it couldn't be, for example, acquirement difficulty. For an argument so widespread, its pretty flawed for people apparently just looking for logic/rationality.

I wish Atheist peoples would get smarter. There have been Atheists for thousands of years ever since pantheist, polytheist, human sacrifice cult religions have existed. Atheist were always people who did not believe in the gods, because they obviously discerned they were all falsehoods, BIG LIES! Causing much harm, but little hope. Then when the Truths are revealed by Buddha, Mahavira, Christos, the cultist pagans turned their movements into religions, with false gods. Thereby turning the Atheists against any hope of accepting higher truths. You see all the gods, dyaus, dioses, devas, appear at some point in human history. But YAHUWAH-Elyon is from the beginning, way before our universe, space, stars, time, planets, earth, humans, or any gods. All the gods are eating dust and very dead. But YAHUWAH-ELYON is eternity, way before and beyond the end of time.

It's not really that hard. You wake up one day and start asking questions. Then when people either don't give you a satisfactory answer to said question or worse get mad you even asked at all. It's actually pretty natural that when something doesn't make sense to people, they become more and more skeptical. It takes no effort and I know, I went to church up till the age of 17. By then I already had questions and well got no solid answers. Am I supposed to just accept something I don't have solid answers or understanding of? No. So I try to get more understanding only to come up with answers. Most people who don't believe in God or are skeptical. Usually comes from an attempt to understand and in all actuality a fight to believe and just not being able to

10:18 - I recently came to Christ. I couldn't ignore Him anymore. I spent 20 years running from Him and He spent 20 years trying to call me back. He never gave up on me. 😭😭😭😭🙏🏽💜 During that time, I struggled with the concept of hell as well. I thought, how could a loving God send good people to hell just because they didn't want to worship him? That seems narcissistic! I thought like that for years!!! It was because I was so far from God and the enemy was telling me lies and I was believing them. After I gave my life back to Christ, it was like blinders were taken off my eyes. I felt so convicted of who I was when I wasn't serving God. But everything was clear. God used his word to build my faith again. The longer you stay away from the word of God, the longer you stay away from prayer- the easier it is to believe the lies of the enemy. The night I decided to throw out all my worldly things and really dedicate my life to Christ, I was praying and I felt FEAR! It was a spiritual battle and I knew it. Even now, I'll get thoughts in my head saying, "you don't want to be Christian, you have to go to church every Sunday and you can't do anything fun." And "this stuff isn't true." I rebuke the enemy and tell him to leave me alone! It's a constant battle but I know what God did in my life. I had depression and now, no matter what happens in my life (I recently got really sick and was in the hospital), I have so much peace and comfort. It's truly amazing knowing Jesus. 🙏🏽💜 I'm praying this woman gives her life back to Christ.

@@TheGeenat The purpose of praying is to get closer to God. It is a like a direct line of communication to Him that allows you to build a relationship with Him. This line of communication opens only if you believe and have faith in Him. He will speak to your spirit when you are praying. God will answer your prayers according to His will. Being infinite and having wisdom that surpasses all human understanding, He may not always give us what we want because He knows better but we can rest knowing that everything He does is good. Sometimes, God will be moved by the prayers of a righteous person and may intervene on certain situations (if it is His will) but even sinners can cry out to God in repentance and God being so merciful and loving can intercede and save them.

I pray for Rachel too! ❤ While I have always been a Christian my entire life, I was raised from the day I was born into Christianity, a few years ago, I was in a very dark place when I lost my Mom and partner of 13 yrs within two months of each other. I thought God was trying to torture me. It was not a good place. I didn’t understand my identity in Him nor did I have any concept of His character. During that time, I adopted two kitties to help me through and my love for my babies helped me see a fraction of how God feels towards me. If anyone sincerely loves a child, then they can put themselves in the reverse order where we are the children and God is our Father (our parent). It was such a beautiful revelation. During my grief, our loving Father (God), wooed me back to Him and now my relationship with Him is deeper than before. It’s such a gift to know God. I personally know 3, as spoken to me by the people that experienced them. And look at how many new Saints we have. Sophrony of Essex, Joseph the Hesychast, Paisios of Mount Athos, Ephraim of Arizona, Lukas the doctor from Russia, Nectarios of Aegina (recent movie - the man of God), Justin Popović from Serbia to name a few.

I think you’re right. One possibility is she was actually challenged with other ideas in college. At the university level is where many lose their faith they may have had their entire life. Look it up, the numbers are staggering. If that’s the case, I think there are many responsible for this. 1) The church- lack of deeper teaching, training and discipleship. 2)Liberal professors that are like wolves waiting to devour those young minds that enter their classroom. Many of them are Marxist and believe any religion is bad. 3) Foolish parents that think just because Johnny or sally is now 18 they are mature and will be just fine at that secular university.

Yes, and idk why people struggle with the concept of hell. Imagine all the child rapists and murders who have never faced justice ... God will bring judgment, and they'll get what they deserve according to his will. So long as they continue to reject him. Also, people who were good humans yet rejected God. Their hell will simply be separation from God. They'll get what they chose to believe in, darkness after death. Now, the more important part is those that simply say yes to Jesus will spend eternity with him in heaven. There's no consequence for believing in him. It helps you lead a better life, with hope and forgiveness. What's so wrong with that?

I had so many questions as a young man growing up. I had doubts about what was preached. At a point Christianity started to catch my interest, it was a false teaching that sounded so pleasant. But one thing that helped is I was eager to hear God. And many times I prayed, God spoke to me through the bible, through people that didn't realise they were resolving the most uncommon but delicate issues in my life. The bible is the only book I trust without doubt. Just because you don't see the truth doesn't mean it isn't there, you need to ask God to show you.

I screamed at God, that I hated Him and His so-called "plan for my life" and didn't want any part of it. Then there were days I lay on the floor screaming and crying to Him, "My God, why have you forsaken me?!" Then I remembered Jesus on the cross. Those were His words. I have had many conversations with my sister about times we shared as children....listening to us you would think we grew up in two different families. My brother and I are more likely to remember details similarly, but the bits that stood out to us that we thought were important enough to talk about were all different for each of us. We related to the exact same event in 3 different ways, and because of that, how we recounted the event shared some of the same information, but otherwise was totally unalike. Only two of the four gospels even CLAIM to be eyewitness accounts. According to the VAST majority of Biblical scholars, Mark (not even claiming to be an apostle/eyewitness) was written first. Yet, Matthew, a supposed apostle/eyewitness copies Mark WORD FOR WORD over 50% of the time. Why would an eyewitness DIRECTLY copy a non-eyewitness in his testimony ever? Why?
@jomidiam
@jomidiam 9 ай бұрын
@@melbied6215 "Why?" is always a difficult question to answer, because we can never fully understand anyone's motivation for anything. Even when people tell you why they did certain things, it'll never be a complete answer, because people have unconscious or subconscious reasons of which they themselves aren't consciously aware. Perhaps, though, his intention was simply to expand on the existing account, adding things that he thought would make it more complete. Why rewrite an already circulating accurate account of what he witnessed himself? Instead, just add to what's already been written. It can be viewed as an endorsement of the veracity of Mark that an eyewitness to the events uses his account word for word and just adds things Mark perhaps had never been told or didn't consider important to what he was trying to communicate.

Having come from a place of utter emotional and spiritual destitution that had haunted me since childhood, I couldn't stand the thought that there might be a place worse than what I was currently experiencing within myself. I had been taught to hate myself. When I got honest, I found that I had no idea of who God was. All I could feel was that quiet inner desperation of self-loathing. Once I arrived at that place of losing all hope, I became willing to look beyond myself to the possibility of answers found deeply within myself. This required that I turn and face the truth of how I felt about myself. It was then that God began to show me just how mistaken I was. He showed me how to begin to feel the truth and to identify with the truth rather than the traumas of my past.
