Warren afficiando here, I remember the shacks in the Warren in the late 1980s. We used to buy plastic boats and balls to play with on the beach. I also remember the Copper Mine Amusements, the Hillbilly Moonshine, and the humming of the go carts. The background of my phone is of myself, my little sister, and my grandad eating ice cream sandwiches outside of our caravan on the Holimarine site in 1988. There used to be a motorised boating lake at the area beyond the black fence 5:48. As you can see that is no longer there.

I was there today with my dog. It's changed soooo much since the 70's and 80's. We had a beach hut there when they were over the back on what is now conservation land. Had a railway carriage in Eastdon which is a 5 minute walk from the Warren towards Cockwood, Back in the day there were trampolines, bumping cars, mini railway, mini golf, fruit machines where now there is the open space along 'the main drag' The shops were lined all along it as well selling the usual stuff and it was absolutely packed out with people. The Copper Mine arcade was just before the bridge. That bridge needed redesigning slightly as fire engines couldnt get underneath it. The footpath under the bridge used to be on the other side too. At the end of the main drag was Harrison's Amusements where The Boat House is now (as you said) and also a bingo parlour that was popular. A guy called Pete used to be the bingo caller and i thought he was pretty cool as he sat there smoking his fag calling out the numbers. The go carts have been there since day 1. Just the best of days it was when i was a kid :)

Fantastic video Bill, it brought back many happy memories of holidays with my mum and dad back in the 70s. Always wanted to go on the go-karts but somehow never did. The Mount Pleasant used to have a great family room as I remember it, but it's gone now and been incorporated in the main pub. The upside is now the great picture window with a fabulous view of Exmouth and beyond. Thanks Bill.

Thanks for the info! Like I said, I'm not really that well up on the Warren, having only visited a minimal amount of times - I wanted to call it 'Red Rock' as well, as that was what was in my mind, but if you go to any maps, it comes up as Langstone rocks - Which ties in with the Langstone Cliff Hotel nearby. I guess its a bit like the Parson & the Clerk - Technically, 'Our' clerk - From Teignmouth, is really 'Shag Rock' - But it will always be the Clerk to us :)
