Hey if Bethesda can do it, I can too… In all seriousness though, the original video was done a couple of years ago in Unreal Engine 5.1 and as we’re currently in 5.5 at the moment, there’s been a lot of improvements to lighting, rendering and performance - not to mention that the original video was done on a mobile 3060 6gb - so severely constrained in size and scope. So I thought I’d revisit one of my most popular videos and - ahem - remaster it? Things like improved assets, materials, Nanite displacement & landscape etc… Not to mention higher resolution... The original video also didn’t really play into the ‘lore-accurate scale’ thing. It was more of a direct one-to-one rip from the game in terms of layout etc - so this one is a bit more fleshed out and reasonable as a town.

@@AszkalonOfVerra no it's a reference to the game. The first time you visit Dawnstar, the people are plagued by nightmares and will continue to be until you finish the Daedric quest "Waking Nightmare." (The quest begins by talking to the priest of Mara inside the Dawnstar tavern) Once completing the quest, regardless of which action you take at the end, the nightmares finally stop and everything "goes back to normal"

You really have an eye for capturing not just the details but that authentic feel of how things should be. I can imagine a crew of Nords rounding the headland, gladdened by the sight of home and a warm hearth. And bonus marks for the timing - hard to imagine anywhere looking more seasonal))

How cool and atmospheric these cities look. And how amazing it is to see this majestic scale. Perfectly! And that's what I wanted Of course, it may be boring for someone to walk along the houses to the exit of the city after exploring it, and then through these forests, past hills covered with snow to majestic and huge mountains, when there is only nature and nothing happens. But not to me. It's a very beautiful video

I was grinning like a birthday child throughout the whole video!🥰 wonderful work, man! I see a clear improvement graphics-wise indeed - it's marvellous! I actually rewatched all of your True Scale: Skyrim videos just week ago, and I made a comment about Dawnstar I would like to reiterate here, just for worldbuilding purposes: Drying fish on racks like that is a long, stinky and fly-attracting process, so it is mostly done on the edges of settlements - and probably not in the middle of it, near marked squares or where people often go to collect water from the well. I realize that the people of Skyrim generally don't know that flies spread disease, but who wants flies in their water or on their produce?😜 In modern times, by these racks is often placed an air-cannon on a timer, going off every 30 minutes or hour or so, to keep the birds away. Took me some hours to get used to when I visited a friend in such a small fishing village😅 Thank you for reading, and for your work, Leo!🙏 I hope there are more True Scale: Skyrim remasters to come! But please remember to take care of yourself, first, and not your fanbase!

It does look great and offers a glimpse of what would be possible if Bethesda wasn't completely incompetent and lazy. Imagine if a real company with UE5 worked on an Elder Scrolls 6.

Its so fascinating to see how your creative style of making these cities evolved over the past few years alongside the technology. Do you plan to re-release whiterun aswell? :)

We really need Skyrim to beremade in the Unreal Engine 5. Imagine seeing the entire province with all its cities, dungeosn and other points of interest in a real scale instead of that insufferable bite size of the Creation Engine 2.
@ShinGallonКүн бұрын
If Bethesda could use Unreal while still keeping their games as mod-friendly as they are, we'd all be better off.
@nwolfe227 сағат бұрын
I could see a fully game ripped version of Skyrim in UE5 being plausible. While a lore accurate version would be nice, i understand the technological limitations of such a feat. But considering all the amazing games we’re getting from people using UE5, I wouldn’t put it past someone like you to make it a reality

If you can pull this off but Bethesda can't pull it off for the Oblivion remaster, the only reason will be laziness or stinginess.
