10 days in! Can you believe it? For the next few days we're going to shift to focusing on more picking hand techniques, like we touched on in yesterday's lesson on muting.
First up, an essential technique that you might not have gone back-to-basics on in a while: alternate picking.
Thanks to Eddie Haddad from Guitar Mastery Method for working with us on this project. If you want to go deeper after you make it through our 30 Day Guitar Challenge, you can check them out here: guitarmasterym...

A big congrats to all of you who have made it 10 days into our challenge! I hope you've already seen the benefits of working on your playing every day. And for those of you just following along on KZbin when it makes sense, you all rock too!

I always thought of alternate picking as like alices restaurant or classical style like using fingers. Its great to see this method with a pick. Thanks !

10 days in and these have all been great, but the last two, muting and alt picking have been perfect for what I have been struggling with to get that tone spot on.

Is that a purple Toronado? Nice. Keep up the good work. I haven’t necessarily learned too much I haven’t kinda puzzled out without lessons over the years but, you’ve definitely helped me refine my practice more. Today is the best one so far for me. 👍 And Stringjoy strings are my favorite.

I’m trying to learn bass guitar and I’m enjoying these videos! I had no idea that there was so much to learn for picking techniques. I like the tone differences when using a pick with a bass guitar and enjoy the lessons. Thank you!

Haha, you meant to say bass guitar, but your keyboard changed it to "bad guitar" because it's a bass keyboard. 🫢

I am a professional, for the last 50 years, all of these techniques have been an integral part of my playing just about from the beginning. So that being said, how much value would these 'lessons" have for me. Surprisingly.... A LOT...... Eddie is a great teacher, and these lessons WILL benefit anyone no matter your level. Because even if you are a really advanced player, it should make you say ...hey let me try that as a practice exercise, or you start messing with some of the stuff he's playing, any and all of this should at the very least get your mind working, AND PRETTY SOON SOMETHING NEW WILL COME UP. So, these are very helpful. To be honest, but only speaking for myself, i don't really watch or listen much to how to do any of these techniques, but I do watch his examples of them, that's where I find inspiration, and as Eddie has said if any of this inspires you, then it been successful, and it certainly has. I am following the series and recommend it to everyone of any level........beginners, and intermediates especially, even after 10 lessons they should have upped their level already.

Picking in general is a weak point for me. I learned classical fingerstyle and transitioned to bass, so picking feels weird to me, but alternate and economy picking have started to make sense to me

I understand the will to be fast, but holding the pic at an angle gives a scratchy sound that I want to avoid.
