Kent had way too much fun editing this one. Love hearing your thought process when it comes to advents! I'm feeling like I'm not doing it the "right way" because I don't have a pattern chosen. Thanks for reminding me there doesn't have to be a right way.

Funny furby story. My Mom needed to return something at the store and when she got to the counter the clerk gave her a furby to purchase… she looked at him weird and he said “you were in line for the limited amount of furbys right?” She said “sure what the heck, I’ll take one” lol. She put it under our tree without a tag told us all it was from Santa, and it drove Dave and I nuts all day till finally my Grammy told her to just tell us! Lol. And I have to agree, it was pretty creepy, haha.

I watched a vlogmas the other day where the knitter is working an a color a day FROM LAST YEAR’S ADVENT! She had the colors open and lined up (not sure if they were in the same order as they came) and is doing one a day. Which sounds like a win-win to me.

I had several Furby's growing up, we moved when I was young and they were packed in several boxes and stored in the garage at the new house. They would go off randomly when you entered the garage (I'm pretty sure they used to say things like "I see you"). There was one that kept going off and we could never figure out which box it was in. I still have a slight fear of going into my parents garage because I honestly don't know if they ever found it.

Like hearing your thought processes when deciding what to knit and what not to knit. I usually just have a couple knit projects going so not a problem with me. It all applies to other areas of my life and if I get two or three things done each day, I am happy and do what I want with the rest of the time. I am retired and it took awhile to get used to having more time. When working life was just easier if I was more organized. Today's toy guess was so funny. I love seeing you two together. Thanks for all your videos, sleep well.

LOVE that you’re doing what brings you joy. Also, if the hat doesn’t get done you can TECHNICALLY still wear it. Put the stitches on thread (or something soft that can be tied so it doesn’t get undone and it doesn’t scratch your head), double it up and have the stitches on the inside. No one has to know 😉

@sarahondocsin65882 жыл бұрын
As a self identified “control freak” I have NEVER been able to knit along with an advent without seeing the ENTIRE thing because “what if I don’t like the colors?” Or “what if the project I pick doesn’t work with that yarn” lol so it’s funny to me that you “trust” your advents enough to commit to a project before knowing the colors! So funny how brains work differently. I also have a lot of stress around picking the right project lol. Luckily this year Diane of suburban stitcher and tellybean took the guesswork out of it for me and included a pattern with the advent and I am absolutely loving it! First time I’ve ever kept up knitting day by day!

My daily win yesterday was admitting that I need to let my body rest more than I'd been planning on. And accept that one of the presents I was planning to gift, probably won't even get started before Christmas. I've been knitting and crocheting so much lately that my wrist is starting to get mad at me. The bonus is that I've already told my mom that I'm not going to be able to finish a cowl "on time". After talking about it and letting her know what was going on, she was able to give input on the color, yarn weight and design. My idea-worsted weight, probably red, cabled and knit. New plan-fingering weight, off white, crochet = double loop playtime cowl.

so interesting how you brought up choices for advents-heres what i did and was feeling guilty until u shared today - so this is my first advent calendar and i chose a dyer who i've bought from consistently the last 2 years- well opening up the first three days i didn't like them skeined up i didn't like the bags they came in left all kind of strings all over them - I began to think i made a big mistake and wasted a bunch of money so i made the decision to open them all up on day 4- wasn't feeling much better so i decided to center pull wind them all up and I FELL IN LOVE i knew exactly what i would do with them and started knitting but i was designing it myself so it took 3 days to get the yardage to pattern right but now my day is filled with joyful exciting advent knitting and now i don't feel guilty for breaking the "rules" thanks to you.

I’m having so much fun binge watching all your vlogmas videos!!! It’s so funny all the things I remember from who knows how long ago. I remember you making your overnight oats when you were still teaching. I pretty much eat that all the time too. And, I totally remember when you moved to NY and poor Toaster was settling into learning about elevators, no grass… i even remember a few videos where you waited for the next elevator hoping to get an empty one. Those treats worked miracles… plus, you and Kent are excellent parents!!! I think I’m on day 12, so I’m going through these one right after the other. They have been fun!! QUESTION: do you still have your other channel? I can’t even remember the name of it, but I always enjoyed it. I don’t knit or crochet, so it’s totally out of character for me to be watching your knitting videos. Thank you.

Interesting fun fact about Furbies is you can teach them to talk, the first year furbies, had a glitch you may say because people were teaching the furbies to curse. So the company behind furbies basically added a moral clause with the next round of furbies were that could not happen.
