Seriously, the people complaining about your nutrition have probably never backpacked. The amount of calories you are burning is insane. Hiking with a backpack, all the ups and downs and the stabilizing muscles you use to step over rocks and uneven terrain is crazy. PS enjoy the alone time, it's one of the biggest benefits of being in nature

They've reworked most of the shelters in the okies in the last ten or so years. They used to have chainlink fence and a gate in front of the opening. Last time I was on rocky top there were snakes sunning themselves on all the rocks. My group had a bear basically chase us into the derrick knob shelter. We were coming in from the clingmans dome side and met up with him about a quarter mile from the shelter.

You are really starting to crush the miles Taylor! Your vlogs are excellent for helping aspiring thru hikers to understand it’s not all nature & fun. There’s also some monotony - the packing and re-packing, camp chores etc. trail life is a metaphor for real life in many ways. It can be done, easily. Dehydrated veg are light, fun snacks on trail and off, and rehydrated are a delicious meal additive. I can imagine it's easy to get overwhelmed and/or lonely on trail. I have my own one-woman housepainting company here in NH's Lakes Region. I did 2 large homes last summer that took me 3 months each to complete. I've found the only way I can tackle them is to break the projects into bite-sized, day-long chunks. The way they get done is to just keep getting up and putting in another day. I hope you catch up with your friends soon for some social contact. You're strong, Taylor, so just keep plugging away. And don't pay attention to all the nutrionists, do what you want with your own food situation. :)
