This is exactly what I needed to hear from God today: “But as for you, be strong and courageous, for your work will be rewarded” (2 Chron 15:7). God doesn’t always remove the conflict; He equips us for victory when we trust in Him, as He did even with Asa’s evil father Abijah, when he faced an army twice as strong. “So Judah defeated Israel on that occasion because they trusted in the LORD, the God of their ancestors” (2 Chron 13:18). God does the same for Asa against Zerah’s million man army (2 Chron 14:13). Then, Asa called out “Oh LORD, no one but You can help the powerless against the mighty! Help us, oh LORD our God, because we trust in You alone” (2 Chron 14:11). As I face challenges that are too complicated with obstacles at every step, God calls me to have confidence when I trust in His power and mercy.

Asa sought the Lord and received peace (2 Chron 14:2-6). God was with him because he sought him. He is with me because I seek Him. The Lord is always ready to forgive & restore. 2 Chron 16:9: The Lord is seeking people to work through - people who are seeking Him. He wants to be our go-to. It is only in trusting Him that I will find true peace. When I trust in myself, not so much peace! He is worthy of my trust and wholehearted devotion. Have a wonderful Lord's Day bible readers!

When Asa and Judah sought God, He was found by them. When they followed His ways, He gave them rest. As soon as Asa took things into his own hands, he relied on the King of Aram, God no longer showed him favor. Even his last days filled with disease, he only sought physicians and not God. What a sad way to end his time as king.

“As soon as Asa heard these words, the prophecy of Azariah the son of Oded, he took courage and put away the detestable idols from all the land of Judah and Benjamin and from the cities that he had taken in the hill country of Ephraim, and he repaired the altar of the Lord that was in front of the vestibule of the house of the Lord.” ‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭15‬:‭8‬ ‭ESV‬‬ This is my God shot because it appears to be a snapshot of what was to come in terms of God‘s forgiveness and compassion towards his people, giving us a preview of the forgiveness and mercy to come through Jesus. God is good. God bless you all.

So many God shots today but I loved 2 Chronicles 16:9. “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him”. Such a beautiful and comforting passage. We are seen by our Creator and He is there to give us strength ❤️

Day 176 I’m always proud when King Asa rises up and says no more! He even takes his mother off her throne bc she was involved in idol worship. He does so much right, and his heart is turned to God. However, we see near the end of his life, he allowed fear to cause him to make judgments he would spend the rest of his life regretting, decisions he made based off of fear. He died somewhat bitter. Although his life was not perfect, it definitely made a difference. His life teaches me to be very patient, especially in the face of fear. I want to make wise decisions. God is so kind. He always keeps his word. He continues to have a Godly leader along the way. He is preserving the bloodline of David. Jesus is coming through that for us all.

Today’s reading showed me how ready and willing God’s heart is. I have never heard of King Asa and his story before, but we see what happens when his heart is fully committed to the Lord. The Lord gave him joy, peace, rest, and victory. Asa eventually turns from God and doesn’t seek him completely, he had a terrible foot disease and still relied only on the doctors. God desires for us to be completely His. ❤️

He is a promise keeper. Despite the sins of the descendant Kings of David, God promised to be with them. He never left them, He waited for their hearts to turn to Him. Just as He does for us!

As praised as David is as 'the standard' for what a good King looks like, he still sinned greatly in the eyes of God and so did Asa. My God Shot today: YHWH is the only one true King worthy of worship loyalty and service because He is without sin, flaw, fault and blemish. He is perfect in all His ways, the King of all kings. He is the standard. Amen

Oh my! I am so appreciative of TBR. I'm not just running through these kings like years past. I get who they are and why they're divided and what they keep doing wrong. It's interesting and educational! Lol. Bottom line: seek God first! Wait on Him. Trust Him. Obey Him. It pleases and glorifies Him and we are blessed with peace by His presence in our lives. I want run this race well and end well. Poor Asa got all screwed up in the end.

God honors those who honor Him. As Azariah told King Asa in 2 Chronicles 15: 2, "The Lord is with you while you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you." Asa started well and did what was right in the eyes of the Lord. His faithfulness to God was so bold that he even put away his own mother because she worshipped idols (1 Kings 15: 13, 2 Chronic 15: 16). Unfortunately, by the end of 2 Chronicles 16, he fell away from seeking God. Asa used his own understanding when problems came, and when it was brought to his attendance, instead of repenting, he got angry. Because of an unrepentant heart, his reign ended in continual wars and sickness. What a shame. I am so thankful for the creation of this Bible reading plan from TLC and TBR. Every day, I am seeing more of God. He's definitely where the joy is!

What I noticed w this is that the Lord didn't move from Asa. Asa moved from God. And therefore the Lord's blessings AND His peace went from Asa. Same way to Christians today. You can't lose salvation, but you can definitely lose peace & separate your abiding relationship w the Lord by not seeking Him 1st & only & following others instead. Worshiping men, pastor's, whatever. God 1st to have His blessings of an undivided relationship w Him!

Anger most often than not leads us to sin and makes us overrelate negatively to others. I get that Asa was angry at what Hanani said but why remain angry when there's a better way to handle a situation? How do you react to corrections, chastisement? If negatively, just as Proverbs says then that'd mean being a fool. If positively, that makes one wise. May we finish strong this godly race we've began, amen!

If you read between the lines, you can see where Satan influences the decisions of most of these kings that we are about to read about. Going all the way back to King David Satan always throws the story off. But it depends on that person in their hearts if they are going to repent or continue to act wickedly.
