Hey Capt, In the future when you catch another eel, slap them hard in the water. Swing them around and let it hit the water as hard as you can. That will stun them and the won't wrap up your rig. It will also uncoil them sometimes. At the very least they will be stunned and you can manage them easily. I use them for snapper and grouper bait. After I stun them, I cut the head off about 2" behind the jaw as they have that part in their throat that can impale your fingers. I use an old rag and peel off their skin then fillet the entire eel. Cut the strips into the lengths you want. The meat is very tough and won't come off easily. Plus it makes great cut bait. Good luck captain 🤙

When you catch those small fish, instead of throwing them back, use them as live bait. Also use a sabiki rig to catch the smaller bait and reuse those as live bait. Also watch a couple videos of trolling in the gulf. You could troll for a few hours on the way to the Bahamas and catch some nice Tuna, Mahi or Wahoo. Keep up the good work!

Little tip when your bottom fishing. If you want the bigger fish, use longer mono or fluorocarbon between the hook and weight. 6-10 feet or longer if possible to get the bait away from the weight. The big fish will get spooked, especially the larger mutton snapper.
@OutOnTheReef5 жыл бұрын
That's great advice I will try that next time and I think you a hundred percent right
