The UNESCO International Forum on the Futures of Education will take place in Suwon, Republic of Korea, from December 2-4, 2024, under the theme Renewing the Social Contract for Education. This global event will gather stakeholders to explore how education can address critical challenges like climate change, inequality, and technological disruption. Participants will engage in dialogue on transforming education to foster just, inclusive, and sustainable futures. Key outcomes include mobilizing a global education community and announcing a UNESCO Futures of Education Observatory. The Forum will also showcase Korea’s innovative approaches to education reform.
The second day of the UNESCO International Forum on the Futures of Education 2024 delves deeper into critical themes shaping the future of education. The Keynote: The Right to Education Throughout Life in the Digital Era examines how digitalization is reshaping the fundamental principles underpinning lifelong education. This session also addresses interconnected rights, such as privacy, access to information, participation, and non-discrimination, exploring how these rights must be safeguarded in an increasingly digital world.
The Plenary Panel: Renewing Education as a Common Good: Who and How? emphasizes the importance of collective efforts in renewing education. Moving beyond top-down approaches, this session highlights inclusive governance and participatory decision-making. Experts and community leaders will share diverse global perspectives on fostering shared ownership and commitment to education, showcasing innovative practices for creating a more equitable and collaborative educational future.
