Day 21-24: I have finally gotten the chance to complete the edits for this video. I know I'm not the only straggler who has finished the Tour de Fleece and I'm proud to have finished it! I didn't quite reach my goal for posting each day, but I am much faster at creating my videos and filming them in general. I hope you have enjoyed these updates.
Today's video is a mini compilation of the pictures from around Leicester and my graduation. I also was lucky enough to have seen Richard Armitage, The Hobbit's Thorin Oakenshield, and gotten a picture with him. He's clearly much taller than his dwarven size for the movie. :) He mentioned very important things, such as staying focused and working on what you love doing. He also had very inauspicious beginnings, but through lots of hard work and taking leaps where there might not be a guaranteed pay off, he managed to become a well known son of Leicester. And as a bonus, he loves archaeology and is obsessed with Richard lll, which our archaeology department excavated and examined.
I don't spend enough time on myself so this challenge will focus on me spinning for myself (mostly) and sharing some personal projects--and personal growth with y'all.

Thank you so much for watching and making my Tour de Fleece a bit extra special. I hope yours was made better by watching my progress, discussions, and insights on Leicester's textile history. Remember, you're amazing and what you do matters. Go at your pace but don't forget the value of challenge. 🥰

Congratulations on your graduation. A moment to treasure, and to have your mother there also, must have been special. Loved the hat! Spinning yarn is so therapeutic, it has helped many people through difficult situations/times. Living in West Wales we are lucky to have a few working woollen mills, which are always worth a visit.

I wouldn't have gotten through my two masters degrees and PhD without it. The more stressed I get, the more I crave spinning.

The ending of one chapter and starting another is always a good time to evaluate or reevaluate. Life goals and other such life-related topics, lots of good things coming in the future. Congratulations on your graduation and your PhD. Looking forward to you finding time for yourself and being kind to your future self in the restructuring of your schedule. It does make a difference with good boundaries.

Thanks! I find that saying it out loud helps. I've started doing this whenever I need to make a loo break and think I should also run through the downstairs collecting stuff that needs going upstairs but then I get side tracked and then I'm carrying too much and yada yada...I still haven't gone to the bathroom. You know what I mean. Spoken words live and I am more likely to listen that way. 🤣😅 This is my first week of my new planning strategy so we'll see how things go. It's a WIP. 😉

Hi Jennifer, I hope you're OK xx ❣ Thankyou so much for sharing this video podcast. I love your Graduation photos Congratulations on your Doctorate, very well deserved. I know all the hard work that goes into it . I know how proud your Mum is. I want to thankyou for sharing your trips with your Mum. They've been very interesting and informative and also for being honest to yourself. I've only been spinning around 18mths and I didn't manage to spin everyday. I watch a You Tuber from the US and she hasn't been able to put her videos up everyday for the TDF, so you're definitely not on your own. I appreciate how hard it must have been for you . I think I should add. That I don't know you or your Mum personally. But has a Mum of someone who is also a PhD 🎓 Graduate. Yes I am that old !!!😆 Happy Spinning Fibre Friend 🐏 ❤ Take care and stay safe Lots of love and Big Hugs Jen xxxx 🐏 🫂 ❣❣🐑❣❤❤

Aww, just a mom with many happy years of experience. ☺️ I'm glad you enjoyed the updates. It was a difficult journey getting the PhD, with a few delays and unfortunate surprises, but I proved that I could do it. Sometimes challenges are important. 😉

@@jenniferbrighty5120 Oh, how sweet you are. My mom has taken my joke of "Dr. Daughter" to heart. She's been posting photos nonstop since she got home. It's a major accomplishment raising a kid who becomes a doctor, especially when you had to drop out of high school to earn money for your family. She insists that my smartness came from her taking her GED while pregnant with me. 😂

@@ExpertlyDyed It's a huge accomplishment. Your mum is right. Smartness and brains go hand in hand especially such a great achievement. Do me andyour mum a favour, just don't forget where you came from. I don't doubt that you won't forget, but has they say, Humble beginnings. This has happened to me . Love and hugs from one Fibre Friend to another. ❤🫂🐑❤🫂🐑🎆🍾🍾

You have grown. I am so proud of you finally discovering you are enough and you need to live your life not based on a corporations nonsense. This is going to be an interesting journey for you. As you have said yourself, you are amazing and what you do matters.

I wish it paid more but I'd do the work even if it was voluntary and for one fan. All our costs have gone up and my income is worth way less today than it was 6 months ago so I looked at that ad revenue as a real way to help out. I always find a solution to my struggles so I know I'll be fine. I can see all my hand dyed yarn on the shelf right now and it's just so pretty. I can't believe it's my design. This is my first week of new scheduling strategy so the next stop on my life journey is underway. 😁

If this channel and You Tube were paying you enough money to live on, then I might expect you to meet a weekly schedule. But you are not a professional production house. I love watching your videos. But, I would much rather you spent time with your mom while she was visiting. Please take time to balance your personal, professional, and video lives. If you get burn out and quit, I won't have my Sunday morning live streams. Buy the way the masters outfit looks way cool! Congratulations!
