It's so nice that you mention about weight. It's crazy how it can go up and down even on a water fast. You are so real and genuine, Arti. You have so much positive energy and I can't be more grateful to you for being so honest about your journey. Very encouraging for people like me who can never understand weight fluctuations.

Right?! I'm so glad I'm not the only one that experiences fluctuations on the scale that seem unexplainable. I appreciate your kind words so much!

Im quite impressed how you're just adapted to it. I mentioned it a lot but your fasting clearly shows that its in our genes and metobalism to go without food as long as we have fat stores. What inspires me about your process(been following your process since day 01), let alone being obese, u were not even fat. Ur face was appearing alredy quite lean and skinny. That is just insane.

Definitely- lots of cultures/religions do different types of fasts, including prolonged fasting, so I'm certain it's something the body is capable of! I think I heard Dr. Goldhamer once say that a normal weight human can easily fast for 70 days without a problem- so 40 seems reasonable comparatively :) In the words of Shakira "my hips don't lie" so I'm definitely not skinny, ha

I’m so impressed that you’re still cooking while fasting, that must be hard

So great to see you here! And thanks so much- I let my husband handle as much of the packing of kids lunches and cooking where possible, but I definitely do my share too... esp the dishes he doesn't know :) That's partially why I was a little worried about continuing the fast once he's out on travel starting this Sunday...

Very impressive!! I have done 6 day fast and found it extremely useful. Quick question: do you record your blood glucose and ketones? If yes, is it possible to share that info? My blood glucose fell to 40 on day 4. Since I was in ketosis, I was doing fine.

Hey thanks so much! I haven't recorded that info on a regular basis but I did get complete labs done before the fast and am planning to repeat those at the end of the fast so I can compare stats... will share then!

Got it. I have a CGM installed to continuously track my glucose. It is interesting to see the glucose measurement during each fasting day.

even the combined test strip glucose and ketone meter would be a step up. The blood test strips are expensive but would provide interesting data. Cheap urine ketone test strips can fill in between measurements. My main question is, could there be a better way to maximize ketones and ketosis, mobilizing body fat, without doing such a long fast, but while eating? Only measuring comparative results would tell us, although changes in fat weight would indicate a difference too.

I fluctuate about 5 lbs week to week on a diet including bread, meat, and vegetables. A lot of times after I’m done making an expansive meal, I lose my hunger and enjoy watching other’s eat. I think I sleep better when I skip dinner. You don’t look like you’re dying. I think the people discouraging you work in healthcare; or is it sickcare? Or is it just profit seeking? Rhetorical questions.

Ha, I know- I love that the people most disapproving are the ones that have sadly done no research on fasting and nor have they ever tried it themselves. So strange that people have such strong opinions about something they know little about! So good to know that it's not just me who fluctuates so much on the scale... and I'm the same way, I sleep better when I don't eat too close to bed time :)
