Thank you Father Mike. I struggle reading the bible by myself, but I do try. Please pray for me my christian brothers and sisters I’m struggling with my faith. God is our Father I must keep trusting in him. Even when things look bleak. I’m a single mother I lost my job for declining the vaccine. I declined due to my pre existing health conditions, lupus and heart disease so now I’m having a hard time providing for my children. I’m so ashamed! I have been put down and mocked over my unfortunate situation. Even though it’s almost Christmas time and we are about to face homelessness. I still have faith God is going to provide abundantly! Praise Jesus! Just Keep the faith!

So grateful for freedom, that I can pick this up everyday, and yesterday our church had carols by candlelight, as I stood there singing these well known words that proclaim the birth of Jesus, I am thankful that generations of people have passed on the good news. Very Old churches have a special place in my heart, I have visited a wooden church In Essex that is 1200 years old ! I like to imagine all the folks through the ages that have been drawn as we are to the word of God.

December 20: "For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us so that whether we wake or sleep we might live with him." 1 Thessalonians 5: 9-10 While the death of Christ saved us from the penalty of sin, there will come a day when believers will be brought in unity with the Lord. At that time the power and presence of sin will vanish and we will be reunited with all those we have loved and lost to death. I am so glad that I subscribed to this podcast. Father Mike, you make the Bible not only interesting reading but you help me apply it to my life today. I probably have read the Bible both Catholic and King James Version but was never able to piece it together with my life. Just reading from front to back you miss so much. Best to read Gods word for yourself, Bible clearly says not to trust man, and you need to know that you have the right spirit, to be able to worship God in the Spirit, Colossians 2:22 “Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?” Colossians 2:8 “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.” It is well worth putting a great deal of study into all of Pauls writings, as of course he spake through the Holy Ghost,as also David did, 2 Peter 1:21 “For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” 1 Corinthians 14:37 “If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 2:5 “That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.” Galatians 3:2 “This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?” Romans 10:17 “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” 1 Corinthians 2:10 “But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.” 1 Corinthians 2:7 “But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:” 2 Corinthians 13:5. “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. I just think we do not pay enough attention to this declaration. Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. As a lifelong glutton and seeing that obesity is one of the health hazards of our times - I truly believe that upon this rests the power of sanctity and becoming partakes of the Divine Nature. When I fast and care for my body, I can hear God more clearly.

So many leaders leading persons astray with faulty teaching. 2 Peter 3: 16 "twist as they do with the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction. December 19, 2023 Round Two Please, do you have just a moment in time to pray for Souls in Purgatory with me? According to tradition, St. Gertrude the Great, was told by Our Lord that each time she piously recited the following prayer, it would release 1,000 souls (or a vast number) from their suffering in purgatory: Eternal Father, I offer You the most precious blood of thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal Church, for those in my own home, and in my family. Amen. In her account of another vision, St. Faustina describes Purgatory as a "great crowd of suffering souls" undergoing purification. Further, she says that the souls are "praying fervently, but to no avail, for themselves; only we can come to their aid" (Diary, 20)

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. I wish Fr Mike would have discussed the heresy of the "rapture" and those who believe that we remain in the grave or place of the dead both body and soul. There is only a second coming of Christ not a second to the elect and a third to those who remain. If we remain in the grave both body and soul then why would St Paul say to die is gain? These things need to be discussed in today's readings.

What do Catholics believe about the Rapture? The verse 1 Thess 4:13-18 seems to tell us but my priest says that isn’t how the church believes it will happen. 🤔

Catholics believe that the "rapture" spoken of in 1 Thess 4:13-18 will happen at the end of time when Jesus comes again, after the time of tribulation. A lot of Protestants believe in a "pre-trib" or even now, they speak of a "mid-trib" rapture where Jesus will come and carry them away before any tribulation (or in the middle of the tribulation) to escape the suffering. Only the unsaved will be "Left Behind" ... it was a theological invention of the late 1800's.
