Welcome to Day 4 of the Kundalini Yoga Weight Loss Challenge with Mariya Gancheva! Today we will focus on strengthening the lower spine and improving elimination, which is key to the process of losing weight and overall detoxification.

Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo - the "Adi Mantra", I bow to the Creative Wisdom, I bow to the Divine Teacher within

​Har - (not used in the practise but in the song) this bij (seed) mantra represents the Infinite in its creative form, it is used in a very powerful prosperity meditation. It is also a mantra that develops willpower.
Sat Nam - truth is my identity. This mantra reinforces the divine consciousness in everyone. It is used as a greeting as well as the mantra for Kundalini Yoga exercises, inhaling Sat (truth), exhaling Nam (name, identity).

This is probably the fourth time I am going thru this series. Never for weight loss really, but because it is such a wonderful kundalini yoga series, and I really love Mariya's teaching style. It is a little more active and concise than a lot of other teachings, which really suit me. I've practiced kundalini yoga since 2005, so I've experienced a lot of teachings, and Mariya is definitely in my top five. Some teachers will only resonate at certain times, whereas I'm always ready for some Mariya, regardless of mood or circumstance. I've really enjoyed today's session. Thank you for this gift that keeps on giving.

Thank you Mariya! I think I am falling in love with Kundalini Yoga. I feel so calm and energised after each day. I am very VERY inflexible and find some of it quite hard, but practising at my own level and hoping that after the 40 day series I will feel more comfortable in my own body. Thank you.

Sat Nam! Thank you Mariya ~ I appreciate your style of teaching. It is as I experienced during my yoga training at the Ashram in Millis, MA. I've experienced some kundalini instructors who think that they need to constantly talk through the entire class non-stop. It's very distracting and doesnt allow a calm mind with their constant chatter!!! So thank you. Your pace and explanation is a perfect balance. Blessings.

Hi Mariya- I was wondering if it is normal to have soreness under the ribs after a few days of these practices. Possibly from the increase and depth of the breathing? I know you are not a doctor but just curious if you have heard of or experienced this before. (Cannot visit my doctor during these times) Sat nam stay safe and well , as always I loved this practice and am so appreciative.

If you made this into a video set I would buy it. I have another set which is also great but there's much more variety in your program which I love. No possibility of your body getting used to the routine. I'm a huge fan!!

More challenging practice, but I kept on trying all movements while listening to my body (slowed down a bit in some exercises according how it felt) and at the end I literally felt how some of my back tension had just melted away! Thank you!

Sat Nam. That was beautiful thank you. My hyper arch in lower back seemed to have released subtly and settled more comfortable when laying in savasana towards the end. Usually I have to put one knee slightly upwards. I really appreciate you. Will continue forward. AUM

I stared this last week, I have a muscle imbalance in my shoulder that I have been receiving physical therapy for. She saw me today and said. What did you do last week your shoulder feels completely different I started this for weight loss and spiritual growth but it’s doing so much more for my body. Thank you! My shoulder feels amazing after this session.

Thank you for this series. I tried it once before but I were not in the right mindset to finish it for many reasons. This time around I am not letting a day or two out of the flow from stopping me to finish. Try practicing Paschimottanasa (seated forward fold), Paripurna Navasana (boat pose), and Halasana (plough pose) for a while to develop the strength and flexibility needed for this sequence. Then apply the modifications Mariya recommends.

I don't know if I'm the only one feeling that way, but these practices have an incredibly powerful effect on me. Today I had to take a giant 2h nap, my body was totally exhausted. It's weird because I've been doing more "active" forms of yoga / workout, but this one totally knocks me down. I am guessing this is a good sign that my body is reacting well to it, and releasing toxins? Has anyone felt similarly exhausted few hours after practice? And thank you Mariya for doing these videos and sharing your knowledge with us so selflessly

Second round after a few day break. I can definitely feel strength difference from first time and less detoxifying. I was fighting nasty cold but kept up with practice & its on its way out, better each day :) Thanks! Sat nam!

Rainbow-Reiki Rich sat nam, everybody is different. What one finds challenging might not be the case for another. That's why we take things easy and step by step. We don't have to be perfect in every pose. If a pose is too much you can lay down , relax and imagine you are doing it. With practice it gets easier. This kriya was amazing! Is there a specific name for it? Thanks for sharing these videos, they have been really wonderful and I am excited to complete the whole 40 days.

I am enjoying this kriya very much. Thank you for sharing. I was wondering if you could provide a modification/alternatives for the movements in Day 4, which require a lot of pressure on the tail bone? I fell on the ice last week and this is killer!

I really like this class, very energetic. But then I’ve noticed that I’m more tired during the day. I don’t know if it’s connected to this yoga session.

Hello, Rosi! Yes, it is very normal to feel this way! How you said it - the kriyas work where you need them the most and many different emotions can come up.

Hello Mariya! Thank you for this wonderful course, I'm on day 4 and loving it. I struggle to do any of the movements that require us to touch our toes with our hands - the back muscles of my thighs are very tight so I rarely get very far. Do you have any suggestions?

Hi! I'm sorry she didnt see this. But. I am a vinyasa yoga teacher and I practice with my knees bent because of tight hips and hamstrings, so try bending the knees a lot and see if you can focus on the back stretch (chest to knee connection) that should hopefully help you get the benefits and feel less forced! :)

@@garyfarrell492 New classes are released weekly on the Kundalini Lounge. There are lots of classes, workshops and programs that you can follow. Workshops especially are a great way to dive deep into the practice. We have workshops from 2 hours to full weekend and they include lots of teaching. I'd highly recommend you check them out. WOW, I can say my abs are out of shape, my little one struggled a bit, but she is young and limber and will get better, thank you, I'm not as relaxed as the other days, but I know results aren't magically and take time, but it would have been great to finish the sequence feeling more relieved. Also why do you only do some exercises on one leg and not both, is there a reason or do you just forget to do the other side? #LearningHowToBlossom

Sat nam, our bodies are different and we also feel different every single day. So don’t be harsh on yourself but practice with awareness. Strength and flexibility will come with time and practice, that is a given. The rest is your journey through it :) Sometimes we focus on one side as we get are stimulating a specific meridian or organ, so this is normal. Thank you for practicing with us all, Blessings Mariya

Wow this has made my lower back and hips feel alot better! But I feel really exhausted and sleepy now and a little headachey. Is this normal after this sort of kriya? I haven't done anything like this in years! :D

Te-Rangi Doull Sat Nam, great! Yes it’s normal as you reshuffle the stagnated energy it can give you headache, nausea etc.. it means it’s working already.. drink plenty of water and sleep for longer. Blessings, M
