I love all your videos about BJU Distance Learning. We are trying it this year for this first time. I have 2 sons, an upcoming 2nd grader and 6th grader. Thank you for showing what a day looks like. I want to use your cart idea and velcro tabs idea! That is wonderful! My 12 year old struggles in math and reading but I felt encouraged after watching your videos and truly feel like someone else leading the instruction will benefit him more :) He is also enrolled in a Christian Private school 2 days a week but after calling BJU and talking with them, they made me feel confident that he'll still get so much out of the program even if he's only using it 3 days a week. I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to do the videos because they are so helpful and really helped me make the decision to give this a GO!

I LOVE this! Thanks for sharing. I just received my curriculum in the mail today and so excited to get organized. I have been searching and searching on how moms organize (I have a 6th and 8th grader). Only a few moms out there and most are younger kids. I love the whole system you have, esp the rolling drawers! This video is a great help. I was going out to get binders etc which I guess we just put the VLG and Handouts in. I noticed that each subject says they need paper and need to find out if it is spiral notebook or loose-leaf paper. I just want to be organized before I start since this is all new to me! We have used a bunch of curriculum over the years but as my kids get older I want someone else to teach them, esp for Math and Science!

Thank you! We are still learning the best system for us. I have used the "workbox system" for many years now with a variety of curriculums. It helps a lot with independent work and staying on track. I let my kids decide what notebooks they want to use. We typically don't use binders with loose leaf as they don't fit well in our drawers. I don't find that it matters much except in writing. If they are writing a research paper or a book report, loose leaf works better. It is easier to proofread and re-write their drafts if they don't have to constantly flip pages in a notebook.

This will hopefully work beautifully for your eighth grader. My older two work well independently. My third grader needs a little more one on one time with mom. Schedule that in with your younger one. It will take less time than you think. And remember, you don't have to do it ALL. Make time for reading together and you will be setting her up for the best success! Ask away with any further questions as you begin your journey.

Thank you so much for this video! I am trying to see if BJU press would work for us internationally where we are requiered to show grades/report cards. Do your children get a report card in the distance learning program? Or would I have to enroll my kids in the AHE? I World really appreciate your help. Also, how long does a typical morning take to finish all required work?

Thank you for the great video. This is really helpful for someone considering BJU. Do you do every single subject the distance learning has? I am hoping to double up on reading to catch my 3rd grader up from traditional school and have started All about reading and spelling this summer. I would like to incorporate that with BJU but don't want it to be too much for her. Thanks so much

Last year, we did all the subjects. This year, we are using our co op for science and history. You can use it as much or as little as you want. Start with the subjects that would most benefit your child with distance learning, then add from there. A friend of mine only uses BJU DLO for math and that works well for them. Best wishes!

This video was so helpful! I love the cart on wheels and will be using that idea for sure! My daughter will be in 2nd grade with BJU, if we decide on this curriculum. I really like it but I am concerned about the amount of work. Currently she is enrolled in an online virtual public school and having to sit in front of the computer for 3+ hours, then has additional 2 - 3 hours of book work to complete after that. I really want something flexible (I am a teacher working full time from home) and I feel anything more than 2 - 3 hours a day for 2nd grade is just too much. I see the video lessons are only 15 - 30 minutes. Is there a lot of book work that follows? Thank you!

What order do you do your lessons for the day and why? I think we should start with math while their mind is fresh, but I don't know the best way to order the rest of the day.
@wholetthekidsout1
@wholetthekidsout1 2 жыл бұрын
When they were younger, I let them pick. They never picked math...and my oldest fell behind in math because it was last in our day and sometimes didn't happen. Now, we start with math, and it's one of his strongest subjects! The rest of the subjects...I switch them up each year. ELA is always early in our day as well. Science and History are usually later in the day because they are fun. Now that they are older, the order really doesn't matter. Math is still early, but we make sure to get everything in each day. Happy Homeschooling!

Hi, would uuou please share how BJU charge for online learning accreditations... thank you.
@wholetthekidsout1
@wholetthekidsout1 4 жыл бұрын
BJU is not "accredited". Typically curriculums aren't accredited, schools are. You look for accreditation to make sure the school is following a certain standard. Since YOU are the school, you don't need accreditation. You are following your own standards. (Usually better than most schools) As far as how BJU charges for their curriculum, you can pay the total when you order the curriculum or they have payment plans available as well. If you call customer service they are very helpful and happy to explain payment requirements and payment plans as well. Happy homeschooling!

@@wholetthekidsout1 thank you so much for responding. I had no ideas about accreditation, thanh you. So what happened if next year I want to send my kids back to school, do they accept them? Sorry that I never homeschool before and I don't know if I could do it all the way up or not. That's why I thought accredited school would guarantee that.
@wholetthekidsout1

I can only comment on the laws in Louisiana, but in our state, YES. The public school is required to accept your child if he/she meets the requirements (lives in the parish/county, etc.) They may require a placement test, but it is unusual for the school to not place the student where they belong. Each state has their own rules for homeschooling. A quick search of your state Department of Education should give you more answers. If not, check Facebook for local homeschool groups to help direct you. Please keep reaching out, I am happy to answer any questions I can. :)

I've heard of BJU from another video. I can see your daughter is very self directed, did it take time to get her used to the routine? I know that with my son, he gets bored very quickly and is distracted, so we need to be constantly on his case. But I really wish he would just do his work so we don't have to keep micro managing him.
@wholetthekidsout1
@wholetthekidsout1 3 жыл бұрын
Bless his heart. Thank you for watching. My oldest 2 children are better at self-directing than my youngest daughter. We are in our second year of BJU DLO and my youngest (3rd grade) still needs me to oversee her work at least daily if not subject by subject. She is a butterfly and also gets easily distracted. It is a struggle. I have to keep on top of her.I hope she grows out of this and I pray that your son does the same. I give her grace and I drink lots of coffee! LOL
