I study by reciting and I've always thought I'm doing it wrong, this gives me reassurance

Glad that this video reassured you that you're reciting is a perfectly good (indeed, very effective) way of studying :)

The usual rule is you use ‘an’ for words that start with vowels, and ‘a’ for words that start with consonant sounds, so it’s ‘a historic day’. But if people drop their h’s they might pronounce it as a vowel sound and so use a

I learned it this way. "“a” before words that start with a consonant sound and “an” before words that start with a vowel sound. "

Literally been BINGE WATCHING all of your videos, and its so inspiring seeing you work so hard! 5 mins after watching a video I'm super pumped about getting my life in order and complete my personal projects but seriously lack the focus if there's even a single distraction. I'm a lead designer at Samsung Electronics, and working on office projects is easy, I can sit at a stretch and complete an entire app release without moving. But when it comes to my personal projects I cant seem to maintain my focus. I'd love to hear any advice you may have! I really look up to you. All the best for all of your future endeavours!

Also, you use 'an' when there's a vowel in the following word. So, it's I saw 'an' elephant today, and there's 'a' storm heading my way.

Hey I saw you having an older MacBook Pro and an external monitor setup. Can you please tell me which adapter are you using to connect it to an external monitor? I have a MacBook Pro 2011 as well and I would like to connect it to an external monitor very soon. Great video though!

I imagine you heard 'an historic' day said by someone with a non received English accent; as stated earlier, it is contingent on spoken vowel sounds

Vanessa D'Angelo Thank you so much! Ummm... on the GDL exams I did, 3 of them were, but 7 weren’t! Glad you liked the method - I’ve tried lots of methods and for me, explaining stuff to myself like I’m teaching someone else is the most effective method of revising 🤗
@mahenadhiti79714 жыл бұрын
It's same method I am revising too!! ... I am really glad that I found your videos because as I am currently brainstorming on my medical exam...so when I wanted some help in " how to prepare for exams " I saw yours... Once again I am very grateful...for your videos and I am following your steps.

Just a small note, your computer screen is probably positioned too low for you, obviously this results in bad posture, neck pain.. btw how to you apply active recall for law exams, do you think anki is a useful tool?
@liam.porritt5 жыл бұрын
You are absolutely right! I do sometimes stand it on books to raise it! I want to have it on a wall mount but I may move out of home soonish, so didn’t want to do it until I move to my own place! I don’t personally like Anki that much, or flash cards actually, as I like to learn things in order, so I use the active recall methods from my video, if you want to look that up! Mainly just testing myself and practicing saying my notes back to myself in order, explaining the progression of ideas 😀 My brain splurge is also good... as I say, check out my active recall video for a few ideas of techniques 😊

@liam.porritt4 жыл бұрын
Hey Sings, I 100% do NOT regret not studying law at uni! That said, I may make a video soon with my girlfriend as she did law at uni and I obviously did the GDL, so any questions you particularly have!? 🤗
@lawyerportal52264 жыл бұрын
Liam Porritt That video would be amazing! Here are some questions x 1. Do you think it is worth doing a law degree for 3 years? 2. Do you wish you didn’t do a law degree for 3 years? 3. How did you fund the GDL? Thank you so much :)) x

an before a vowel. A before a constanent
@divaqueen78984 жыл бұрын
The second letter governs whether to use “a” or “an” rather than the first letter of the word - but that's well old fashion, proper BBC English x

you would use 'AN' when the first letter of the following word begins with a vowel e.g he is an arsehole. lol
