Join nurse Ashley and come shadow me to see a day in the life of a doctor!
It was great hearing Ashley’s insights throughout the day and actually seeing patients together - she has been such an asset to the medical team!
I really believe it’s important for health care providers to understand each others roles better so we can optimize our efficiency and communication as a team. That’s why I did these previous videos:
⭐ Shadowing an ICU nurse for 12 hours: • Day in the life of a D...
⭐ Do DOCTORS ANNOY NURSES? • DO DOCTORS ANNOY NURSE...
⭐ Do Doctors Annoy Patients? • DO DOCTORS ANNOY PATIE...
Huge thank you to the whole team for participating in the video!!

COMMENT below with any insights or questions
SUBSCRIBE so you don’t want to miss any videos!
I’ll chat with you next week!

I think every nurse and doctor should team up like this every once in a while. A lot of the time people get so caught up in their own point of view that they forget that other people might have different responsibilities than them. Pairing up like this is such a great way to build understanding and perspective. Really hope more doctors and nurses do this, seems like it would really benefit the work environment (and hopefully patient care)

I totally agree. I'm a medical coder and I frequently have to ask doctors questions and follow up on patient visits for any issues we run across. A mutual respect is extremely important. Some doctors are rude or don't want to deal with us coders, and some are super nice and helpful. People are much more motivated to do their job well when everyone treats each other better.

This is such a good idea, letting healthcare professionals follow each other to get a sense of each other’s day/workload/what they do in general! That way we can be more considerate with each other e.g. when drs get annoyed if they get interrupted on a note when the pharmacist calls for an intervention, I can be like oh yeah it’s normal to be annoyed. So much of healthcare can be improved by learning about each other, so I’m so grateful that you let others see behind the curtain and what a day as a dr looks like ❤️ wishing you the best, just a pharmacist in training x

This was such a great video! It was really cool hearing about how you two worked together to help that patient with shortness of breath. Such a good idea to have nurses/doctors do this so you can both have more understanding of what the others do in a day. I was a nurse for a few years, but everyone was always soooo crabby with each other because they weren't working fast enough or exactly in "the right way" that I ended up leaving the profession for something far less stressful.

I also love how you are building bridges between nurses and doctors - when I did an internship as a nurse in a hospital for paralyzed people, it happened so often that doctors or residents didn't even greet us when we walked past!

I'm a nurse and I loved this video! I love how open-minded are kind both of them are. So refreshing to see. It was great when the doctor enjoyed working as a team with the nurse who had shortness of breath! I wish all nurses got to shadow doctors and all doctors got to shadow nurses. I know as a nightshift med/surg nurse I would love to shadow one of the nightshift hospitalists for a day. We only have 2 hospitalists for the whole hospital at night and it'd be so interesting to see what they're doing all night long!

This was such an awesome idea and video!! I'm currently in nursing school and loved being able to see this side of things. It would be great to see a video on nurse practitioner roles and collaboration with physicians in the future!

As a nurse I would love to do this. Interruptions in health care are CONSTANT. They don't/can't really teach us this in nursing! What type of nursing does Ashley do?
