Siobhan, i just want to thank you! I'm in 2nd studying for my boards, i haven't gotten any clinic/hospital experience yet and im a very hands on kind of person, so it gets really tough just reading studying texts and doing questions, etc since its not actual hands on medicine. But watching your videos really help me get through these tough nights of studying because you show us clinical medicine, which is the reason why i joined medicine! Not to be stuck in a room studying all day, haha, so thank you so much!!!

Hi Siobhan! actually, I haven't been to a rheumatologist in years! ( I was diagnosed at age 3) and luckily it has gotten a lot better. I will only get flare ups when I'm stressed or exercising (I've stopped playing soccer so that's helped). I did a little research and it seems there are a lot of new treatments which is exciting. Now, I'm able to get by with Advil and hot baths when needed :)

Hi Siobhan! Love your videos. Just wondering if you could do a video talking about your time in medical school; what it was like, times you felt like giving up, how you studied, what your favourite year was, all that good stuff! Was also hoping you could talk about what your rotations in other departments was like (i.e., psychiatry, surgery) and what it was that made you choose internal medicine for your residency.

Cool to watch this. I have 7 different autoimmune disorders, and every new doctor assumes I have Lupus! Nope, I have 5 markers, but no malar rash or photosensitivity, and my CRP is negative (ANA, PT, PTT, and APLs are positive, but there are reasons for those). At least in Rheumatology, my 'medically complex' label is not unusual, and the rheumatologist and hematologist I have both are very receptive to my thoughts on how to manage my health. Thanks for sharing insights on a doctor's experience.
