Ambient is good cause it tends to be bigger, so once you get used to the locations, you can get a higher volume of items in less time, Chilled tends to be the same, And the reason frozen is fast is because you do the walk in a small area( and also dont have to mess with scales like produce and chilled ) A tip I have for my store now because we have Auto select commodity now and our managers spread out Oversize amongst us to keep it fair, If you know youre going to end up having 1 or 2 bad walks IE a general or an overzise that will reck your pick rate, Make sure you try to do your best on your strong walks or attempt to target your strong walks if you can( it can be hard cause auto select has a certain order per hour) but for me Ambient is my strong walk so i make sure to bust them out to offset the bad walks. The same strategy works for surveys in Pickup, If you plan for always having 1 or 2 bad surveys that are inevitable, The best way to fight it is by diluting it with good surveys, Ie having 50 good surveys in a day to offset 2 or 1 bads is much better than having 1 or 2 bads and only managing 10 good surveys, which would crush you.
@invictaland1983

@🎪 InvictaLand 🎪 when customers get an order dispensed they get an email receipt or an app notification that their order has been dispensed to them. On that screen it asks you to leave a review and includes a box for the name of the dispenser. The dispense surveys affect cstat of the entire store.

Thanks you were right Kaylee. My anxiety is getting better. I've had the job for 7 weeks now. I applied as personal shopper but they have me taking orders out to the customers cars (dispensing), staging and cleaning totes. I've never picked, yet. I have to interact with coworkers a little bit when we're organizing orders or when we have issues. And sometimes I have to answer calls from customers telling us they've arrived and what parking spot they're in. Also once in a while I have to answer customer service calls about items missing from their order or other issues. Customers stop me in the store to ask questions while I'm taking out or bringing orders back inside as well I'm getting used to it. It's a decent job. Better than stocking I'd say. The biggest problems have been rude customers which are rare, and trying to get along with customers and coworkers despite my anxiety, quietness and awkwardness.

LOL I work in OPD and I’ll let y’all know that I bag with one hand sometimes, I almost never touch the bag handles cause I stick the item straight in the bag and strategically place the item in a back corner of the tote if it’s a big item or in a front corner if I can fit more in it later. I pick 700+ items a day and my pick rate is normally around 130%-170%, the key to shopping quickly is being observant for items, shopping quickly, and bagging quickly. I also pick a lot when I drop my cart and grab another in less than a minute, I’ve discovered you can waste a lot of time very easily in the back room. Also y’all need to get of your phone 😂, I have like 10+ coworkers who don’t pick more than 500 items and constantly take little breaks without their Team Lead or Coach knowing to message or talk with friends, some of y’all think you’re getting paid to hang loose with friends online and that’s not work efficient. That’s what the 2, 15 minute breaks and hour lunch break are for. Please comment for questions, I have been asked several times to step up in command at work but I don’t have the time and I still like to learn a lot for fun and like to help as much as possible with my boss.

As everytime you look and scan the item, you waste some seconds + it helps Getting order done a bit more faster making the clients happy. Hey. I know that the answer to this question will probably differ depending on where you live, but what is the actual dress code for this specific position? I never..paid attention to what pickers I saw in store were wearing other than clothes (and jeans! YAY FOR JEANS!). I do know I saw some individuals that take the orders to customers vehicles - wearing t-shirts it looked like? Are t-shirts allowed or? Like ones with pictures or words? Also, do they care about hair style or hair color? I think I saw a gal at one of my local wal-marts had some bright pink hair, which I thought was really cool. But I know some jobs are like NOPE, natural hair color and no strange/odd hair cuts! (which mine would be considered "abnormal") Again, I know this probably depends on where you live and/or work, as some places don't enforce/care as much as others. Some Walmarts might be like "stick to this dress code or we'll fire you!" and then some might be like "Look, we don't care as long as you are wearing clothes, nothing offensive and be appropriate" or such.

Ok so there's different categories of picks and say one person will get the frozen part of a single order and another person will get the chilled items like dairy and meat and another will get "ambient" or grocery/ consumables items and another will get GM (general merchandise) and so on. So yeah it's in different totes because of that and stored in separate areas based on temperature requirements. If it's a large order then it's not a problem to make another tote.

Yes in the back there is dolleys with attachable hooks that are used when dispensing (each dolley is 2 totes wide and can be 5 totes tall for 10 per dolley. For room temp items (ambient) there’s 4 different sections by color and number - 5 if you count the front pickup room, deliveries one, pickups in another, oversized, and express. Then there’s coolers numbered and barcoded as well as freezers.

Very interesting and well done. I'm not a personal shopper but I've used the online ordering/car pickup for about 2 years several times a week and overall I've been amazed at the accuracy of the shoppers. The one thing I've been frustrated with lately is dented cans. I've had this happen 4 or 5 times in the last few weeks. What is Walmart's policy on bent cans? I've always heard it can be risky healthwise. Thank you for the peek behind the scenes.
@michaelbest7872

Hi cinnie2. I can help explain some info on dented cans that you say you are getting. 1st, dented cans should NOT be something you are receiving through on-line shopping at a store. Walmart online shoppers are to pick only the best choices, and that is NOT a dented can by any means. A small dent on the side or corner of the top or bottom will not affect the safety of the product. If the dent is on the seams - top, bottom, or side, consider the food to be generally unsafe. Again, shoppers are advised not to pick ANY can with ANY dents on them. If you're an on-line shopper and have been receiving dented cans, let the store know. Not all on-line shoppers are fully aware of ALL things! Like cans, no one is perfect.
@goofygirl1311
@goofygirl1311 2 жыл бұрын
The pickers are supposed to check the cans for dents and select cans in good shape for your order. However, if the only cans of an item left on the shelf have some minor dings in them, they might pick them for you just as you might do for yourself. Any cans with major dents in them shouldn't be on the shelves to begin with.

From someone who worked stocking Ta 1 for them. Walmart will try and sell damaged items no matter what. Long as the content is still in the package. A hole on the bag just put some tape on it. Oh some of content spilled? Just put a new top on the package and move the product to the front shelves.

Dude, if you’re so worried about it shop for yourself. Your food is not harmed by a dent, it’s just not aesthetically pleasing. Often times it’s that or nothing at all which also seems to piss people like you off. Can’t win

I don't even worry about how long it takes to help a customer while I'm in a walk; usually they just want to know what aisle an item is in and for the most part I can name things off the top of my head from sheer memory, and if not the Ask Sam feature in the me@walmart app helps because it shows exact item location. If a pick walk takes a noticeably longer amount of time because I was helping customers, I just let one of my leads know. If they don't believe me they can always check the cameras. Part of the job is assisting customers in the store, and the expectation is being able to do that while shopping for the online customers. If corporate can expect me to do two jobs at once, I can expect the grace of the time to be able to do it

We just got a raise to 16 but we also have a new supervisor who has been an asshole to us. Many people have switched from ogp and now to make matters worse..I heard that if we don’t get our pick rates up (more than 100) in the next few days we will get terminated or moved to a different department. Now mind you.. our pick rate for the store has been the worst ever since this dude has been hired. Sure our last coach wasn’t the best and he may have been annoying but we got shit done. Now it’s like nothing is enough for him and he has even threatened my job twice and has sent me home early for doing a nill pick and substituting those picks. I just pray that I can keep my job bc this is not a coincidence that he’s doing this when we just got a raise

OGP associates work anywhere from 4 to 8 hours, depending on availability. 6 hours or more gets an hour unpaid lunch. The picks drop every hour from 6am to 6pm, and when picks are done depends on how long they take to be shopped. My store is usually done shopping for the day around 6:30-7:30pm, though on especially busy days it can take longer. As an associate you can stay until picks are done as long as you aren't getting overtime (OT must be approved), or you can clock out when your shift is done. Associates who work the closing shifts (1-10, 4-10 etc) aren't technically supposed to stay until all the orders go out, but it looks better on them if they do

Dispensing is definitely the hardest part. A lot of times you’re expected to store the totes everywhere in the freezer, cooler, and on totes. You are expected to take the order out insanely fast and you deal may deal with ungrateful customers angry it took 12 minutes for their order. On the plus side, you socialize more with your team in the room, and many people get tips

Thank you Larisa, from Plymouth, MA Walmart #2336 for sharing some of the things we do to prepare and how we shop! It seems Walmart is ever changing as even your video on how to increase pick rates are no longer an option here! We have the Auto function. The computer picks the next walk ! I didn't see the picture of that trick you offered? I never knew that! I'd like to know more specifically how to do that. I mostly work exceptions, where the pick rate does not apply, but occasionally I'll jump into a pick walk. Forgive me. You said, "press the rectangular circle"? then "Swipe to the left." ??? Then to get back, one would "Click onto "Jiff ?" and then the time would restart.

If you feel you can't lift these things on your own you should always ask for help. Osha rules are anything over 50lb should have a partner anyway!
