Hi LT, I just want to give you one tip that could possibly help future soldiers. Therefore, I am going to share my experience at the range. I struggled at the range because I am right-handed, left-eye dominant, with a left lazy eye. I struggled with this throughout my entire military career. I didn't know this until I got out of the military. If you find a solider struggling, you may want to consider that the problem may be beyond basic. I hope this information will help you and future soldiers.

Thank you for the advice, I never did think that it could be something thats not focused on the basics.

@@DavionWest1 I forgot to purpose some solutions. Option one, you can refer the soldier to an eye specialist. Depending on the eye problem, it's usually treatable. Please ensure that the doctor performs a comprehensive eye exam. I assure you, a quick check of the eyes are not sufficient to detect lazy eye and other problems. Option two, the soldier will have to adjust their shooting style. I paired up with a company whose employees are former Special Forces for help. When shooting, I closed my nondominant eye and use my right hand to shoot. It works great for handguns, but I am not sure about rifles. Hopefully, this will help you.

Designate two confident Soldiers as RTOs for Range Control, always be respectful to the civilians ( it will allow you to pass off things that might need clearance and overall makes the training more valuable). Doing dry fires and rehearsals the day before or a couple of days before will have the soldiers dust off any rust in technique. Lastly TLPs like make sure you know how to get to the range and the Medavac plan is squared away.

Brandon Muir, make sure your NCO’s understand your intent, end state, trust them to get the job done. Worry about RC and let them handle the line.

I been out for 2 years now and the reason why I got out was toxic leadership. My E6 would hit the soldiers and I almost daily. I had three E5's and all they did was sit in the nice AC office all day while the soldiers baked in the hot sun doing there dirty work. Sometimes we didn't even get to go get lunch. My last week in the Army the Sergeant Major ask to see me in his office he ask me why I was reenlisting. I told because of the toxic leadership. If you saw how leadership treated the soldiers you would understand why most of us aren't reenlisting. I got up and ask to be dismissed. Being out the Army I feel way better about myself. I have a great job and a nice house.

If your soldiers are in full kit I don’t see why you and the NCOs aren’t in full kit as well. You may just being a safety or RSO but if my soldiers are having to suck in full kit I’m gonna be right there with them.

Former commissioned officer, and I’m 100% sure that if they haven’t already done so, the Army needs to develop an AR associated with the filming any on-duty activity. This seems so completely outside the norms of Army best practice, and I encourage you to make serious enquiries with DoA.

@@DavionWest It went well thanks to my phenomenal NCOIC. I learned that as long as the planning (from the point you receive the order until day of the event) is done and your range detail is where they are at the whole thing runs itself. My only concern the day of the range was making sure the transportation is good, safety and the arriving soldiers received their range brief (which was done by me)

Is the army in need of more MP officers? In ROTC right now, just don’t want to put it down an find out they don’t need people and go to another branch. Not worried if I get sent to another branch just would prefer to pick
