@MrAbuYaz3 жыл бұрын
@@gopack21 that's fantastic and I hope the young women take the opportunity to utilize the academic resources available to them. Balancing rigorous academics with the three hour a day commitment to Division 1 athletics is difficult. My point was that none of the women thought to mention academics except for Kelsi. Are they ALL going to be professional athletes and then use that visibility to transition into careers after their competitive running days are over?
@sarahdore78843 жыл бұрын
zachary levin Maybe because the academics are good at any D1 school and this video is about cross country. Maybe don’t crucify them for one statement
@MrAbuYaz3 жыл бұрын

Writing on 092123 it is heartwarming to see that an entire cohort has moved on except for Kelsey, Sam, and Mariah (?) but that core spirit, best elucidated by Elly Henes (whose full name, by the way, is Elena), has since captured two national championships and is positioned to possibly three-peat. With the pickup of Amaris Tyynismaa from Alabama, the Pack can line up the 1st, 3rd, 9th and 15th finishers at the 2022 champs. If one of their seasoned vets or one of their outstanding freshman recruits can step into the fifth-guy-in role, NC State COULD make history. Let's see what happens. GO WOLFPACK!
@ScoutGrey6 ай бұрын
How did they do this season or is it still going???
@Philobiblion5 ай бұрын
@@ScoutGrey Well, unusual for me, I predicted it, sort of (see above). Kelsey was injured and sidelined and on race day Tuohy ran sick. She fell back to 11th, but clawed back to finish 5th. Amaris, did indeed, come through and finished 2nd guy in-- 25th place I think. Sam Bush, the most reliable 3rd guy-in of the entire NCAA started so far back she was almost in the next county, but passed dozens to finish third in, again. And, the fabulous freshman recruit Leah Stephens finished 43rd with the same time, 2:08.2, as 44th and 45th, meaning if she had been a few hundredths slower, State would have lost a tiebreaker with NAU. And fifth in sophomore Grace Hartman just scored enough points to get them the three-peat. Of their three consecutive titles, including Tuohy's monumental reeling in of Parker in '22, this was the most dramatic and the most exciting-- and possibly the most improbable. Now, it's hard not to have visions of four-peats dancing in our heads. Besides Leah and the outstanding freshman recruits Angelina Napoleon (three fastest 2k steeples in high school history and Gatorade Athlete of the Year, like Tuohy) and Kate Putman (2022 Millrose Girls Mile winner) who red shirted the cross season (?), Henes has signed Bethany Michalak of Air Academy, who was third at NXN in 2022 and second in 2023, and Fiona Smith, a fifth year transfer from St Benedict, who won the NCAA DIII individual, winning by over a minute. If Fiona had run the same time in the D1 race she would have finished ahead of Amaris as State's second guy in. The big question now is who is thePack's 2024 low stick? Or, with Fiona, Bethany, Leah, Angelina and Kate Putman, do they even need a low stick who can finish in the top ten? As Amaris, who transferred from Alabama after finishing third and ninth in '21 and '22, explicitly to win a championship said, when she first practiced with the girls: "HOLY CRAP!!!" To her what was amazing was that the whole team is of such quality they all train together.

@NOTREALLY HANKAARON I have taught me kids the THINK method: Is it true, is it helpful, is it inspiring, is it necessary, and is it kind. Apparently you are never taught that. Lulu was always cheerful and friendly to other teams. My daughter met her and says she was a genuinely nice person. You can't say that if every runner. I find it a privilege to watch any runner, no matter how fast or slow they are as long as they are a good person. XC is about family. It's one of the things I love about the sport.

Would have thought by now ,many many years haven surpassed when I competed ,that these times would have dropped dramaticallly. Especially since ,there is far far more competition since the years I ran on the track . Thought below 2 min,being run now . What's going on ?
