BYU Coach Diljeet Taylor Goes WILD Over 'Time Trials' At Altitude

BYU women do a 3k, 1200m, 600m time trials in Salt Lake City, Utah (4,265 ft elevation) on their first day back from winter break. 19 days later many of the women went on to run personal bests in the 5k, 3k and mile at the 2024 BU Terrier Invite.

The reason I really like this channel is because it focuses on the coach athlete relationship and how the coach approaches the sessions. It really highlights that success can come from having a good coach and a good relationship with your coach.

A lot of people say Coach Taylor is too crazy and loud....but that's her style. Not all athletes are the same. Her athletes obviously respond well to her style and they picked her style. Mike Smith is the total other end of the spectrum and that works for other athletes. Matter of style and preference. I respect Diljeet.

Utah Olympic oval. Middle lane on the ice is 400m. We have a similar set up here in Calgary running track with 110m sprints area x 9 lanes and 2 lanes around, running surface ~ 450m per lap.

Then a few others just broke 14:50. Very interesting. We have at least 5 American women who can break 14:50 in the 5000. Or it could be the trampoline Boston track. I happen to think Parker is a machine and she runs 14:30 if that’s what it takes to be up front.

442 meters for lane 1 because it goes around the outside of the 400 m skating track. This is the Utah Olympic Oval where the speed skating events for the 2002 olympics were held, and where the 2034 olympics will be held. You'll notice the coach was moving back on the track slightly for each lap to give the runners their splits. The track is marked.

​@@blairleishman2368they took what we build for 1988 and made the track better. Calgary is ~ 447m in the inside and 454 in the outer. The middle lane on the ice has to be 400m and the warm up lane is on the inside. Long track worlds here next weekend.
