I have to say, but this has to be one of the best workout videos you've put out Flotrack and I'm extremely glad that this isn't behind a random paywall. It's great for the sport being able to witness one of the best women's team in action with training. They're doing awesome things at NC State and it makes it easy to root for them seeing all the hard work they're putting in. It's very inspiring and motivating too!

I've said this before and will keep saying it. Katelyn Tuohy is so mentally tough on top of the fact that she is physically so tough. The amount of pressure on her is unlike any other, I can't imagine being under it and still be this high level athlete.. PRing in the distances that she runs and almost winning two titles as a freshman. Tuohy came on top of the pressure and her set backs, she sure has a bright future ahead because of her mental toughness, work ethic, and natural talent

Katelyn is the most beautiful natural runner I've ever seen in terms of her stride and her kick and how energy efficient it, but I should give props to her teammates not only for their talent but the incredible level of grit and determination I've seen them display in recent races. Every runner runs through pain, but I've never seen so much determination not to quit in the face of a runner. That race against the Hogs in the 4x1500 was one of the best races I have ever seen, and neither team deserved to lose. So much talent and so much heart by both teams.

I love how Katlyn runs these training laps like a racehorse fighting the bridle. She's got the good angel Coach Hennis on one shoulder telling her to run to plan, and the speed demon on the other shoulder telling her "YOU CAN GO SO MUCH FASTER!!!!!" Because Kaitlyn is a coachable athlete, the angel is winning. But you can feel that the urge to go the other route is real! What a phenomenal talent. I hope she has amazing outdoor season.

Plug and place! The runners will come and go just like athletes from all sports. Yes, I agree there is a ton of talent at NC State. Why is NC State taking names? They have elite Coaches and Staff in addition to a system with a rich history. Geiger / Henes (Gomez) and Staff are among the best around and that's why they are winning. NC State is academically best in class, its located in a beautiful area, everyone is helpful, and this team is about HEALTHY performance improvement. Parents need to seriously consider NC State as their first option for their kids and their running careers. TAKE THAT TO THE BANK!

These are almost identical to the times I do in the pool (.25) of the distance. It always amazes me how consistently times in the track are 4 x the pace of what is done in the pool. It tracks for all the WRs too. The 200 and 400 on the track are a bit faster than the 50 and 100 free, but the 400 on the track vs the 200 free are very close. Interestingly tho, swimming holds the pace better than running - the 1 mile on the track is slower than the 400 free (the women’s mile vs women 400 free suggests there is a HUGE amount to drop on that record btw).

From 9:18 to like 9:43 it's pretty amazing how great they all look in their strides. The only one that threw the motion off was the girl in red....but that could just be that she shows more muscle definition in her legs than the others (Meaning, it just makes it look like she is trying harder to keep up. I do NOT mean that in a negative way. Only what that time period looked like to the eye.).

102124 It's fun to see this throwback. I'm still trying to get over the Tuohy-Chmiel-Bush dynasty years. But the Pack is rebuilding as shown by the 2024 Chicago meet back a few weeks and the Pre-Nats this past weekend when Grace Hartman and Hannah Gapes established themselves as the top rank 1-2 in D1 by my reckoning. I don't know if they will get a podium finish next month, but if Fiona Smith and Brooke Rauber and a couple of the Baby Wolfies like Ellie Shea can get to the next level, anything is possible. I like it.
