Last year I used a cheap coffee maker to heat water for washing dishes, and to make a few side dishes. We were essentially dry camping on a 300 ft 30amp extension cord off the end of the main electric line at the county fairgrounds for a week. Upside we were semi close to the good shower house. 😂

I’ve had my Berkey for years and love it! Definitely worth the investment. Do get the stand, it makes a big difference. I also got the stainless steel spout instead of using the plastic one.

Not every campground will allow mail... just a heads up. The last one we stayed it was 5.00 a package and the one before that was absolutely no mail. Just be sure to check that before booking if its an important thing

Something you can do to add counter top space, is to get a wooden tray (like what covers the stove top) that can go just on top of the sink. We do this in our tiny kitchen.

considering if you're not working out that the average recommended water intake is 8 cups or 4 bottles of water a day, the berkey completely makes sense for ALL people if they are buying plastic bottles!! I have great tasting and safe well water so I don't have a berkey, but dang to think if I was only drinking 8 cups a day or 4 bottles that means that 2 cases of 12 waters is still not enough per person for a single week is really dang insane!! My current water containers one is 50oz the other is like 24oz and the large one said on it that if used instead of plastic it it saves over 800 bottles from going into recylcing/trash a year and the 24oz one said I believe 280 bottles a year.... when I did the math that still wasn't if you are actually drinking the recommended water a day! It was a weird thing to see on the label but seeing that has really made me even more aware of grabbing my cup for the car bc for me that means I am saving like 1200ish bottles a year just by using my stainless steel water containers! Imagine how much space even 1000 water bottles in a family of 5 would take up :O Not to mention that even if you're buying the cheapest water available its still like 3-4 dollars a case... Back when I was drinking bottled water I felt like I was being a bit of a glutton when I would drink the recommended amount in a day because obviously that would fill up the recycling super fast!! With all the hiking etc yall will be doing and knowing that takes up even more hydration, this was really an awesome choice!!! I've also heard Berkey has individual water bottles for on the go cleaning for filling up at like fountains etc

We didn’t downsize a ton. We got a huge storage unit to save what we want for our next house but I do have a tote for each kid with their baby things and school work we have kept over the years. We try not to have a ton of stuff in our home but it happens 😅
