This video is a typical morning when Henry goes to Preschool. He is at preschool for 2.5 hours, three days a week. We had a huge struggle trying to find a preschool that would even allow him to be there! **See the Type I Diabetes playlist on my channel for more videos.
I will be posting a vlog update next week on how preschool is going as far as teachers & Henry's diabetes etc. I will also be talking about our struggle with Henry's unawareness of blood sugar lows.

Seeing this video makes me happy and sad. Happy because he has such good parents. But sad because he has to be doing this so young. I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when I was 11. Now being almost 26 it's still a constant struggle. Best of luck to you and your awesome son. Your videos really inspire me.

He is precious. I know this video is 5 years old. I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes last September. I know the nervous feeling and I’m 33. So I just want to say keep strong & keep being you.

That's awesome the nurse at his preschool is so good with his diabetes. My daughter starts at a new preschool this year and all three of her teachers are trained and also a little boy in her class has type 1 as well . The preschool are going to do all her testing and lunch time insulin so that gives me a break.

Nice bag, kinda looks like our diabetes bag, well, what is used to be, and we are mdi too. Instead of juices, we use the small 7.5oz. soda cans, they normally have about anywhere from 23 to 27 grams of carbs depending on what soda it is but it's kind of convenient because if my son doesn't come up 15min. later, he just has the rest of the can and that will bring him up to range without going high. We have our syringes and pen needles in a small thick reusable plastic dollar store drinking bottle and we also use a separate one for the sharps/used syringes.

Have you ever considered getting a service dog to warn you of Here's highs & lows? I saw a news story about it for a little boy in my area. The dog can detect lows 15 minutes before the meter.

Actually if they do not have the means to cover the cost....like a nurse and can show that they can turn them away. For safety. Some states allow for non medical staff like the teacher can do it if the teacher is willing to be trained.

He doesn't test himself too often. He gets frustrated because the meter will time out or he won't get enough blood or he presses the strip to hard to his finger and then he'll get an error. He just started recently testing himself before lunch and snack time.

I have a younger sister who I care for most of the time. (Our parents are overseas right now) She is 12, and is deathly afraid of her insulin shots. How did Henry get used to it? I have gone through diabetes training, and I've shown her these videos and she does her own blood sugar, but she cries at the sight of needles :/

dreamflight6000 try the OmniPod pump. They are tubeless, wireless, and waterproof other than the controller. I had one for 4 1/2 years until my insurance changed, it was wonderful! They last 72 hours, but you have 8 hours after the 72 to change the site, so a full 80 hours until it will shut itself off.

I have had Type 1 since I was 4 now 36, so for the last 32 years. I have just developed hypoglycemia unawareness in the last few years. Normally that comes after many years of the diabetes, sorry Henry has it after so few years.
