I grew up out here back in the 1970's before this land was a state park. it was two ranches. Lemon's camp, and Gorman Falls. The Lemons family owned Lemon's camp. My friend's father managed and/or owned Gorman Falls. then the state bought the land. We almost lost a couple of friends deep inside the big Gorman Falls cave by the river. (not the one on this show) Luckily for our friends, TX State spelunking Students happened to be in the cave when we were there. We also called up a Mountiain lion one night while night hunting and calling for fox and coyotes. To be young again! The Bend Store was the only store nearby. What a Beautiful Place! Great show!

Loved playing Camp Host with Nikki Elms and all the staff and co-hosts. Winter of '21 was especially memorable!

Brother, I appreciate ya'll releasing full videos. We love your videos, but we'd search a video to a place we were going and 5 minutes just wasn't enough. That's how good ya'll are. I'm on a Bucket List to see every State Park and my "kids"( (22 and 14) have been on this adventure with me. We randomly ran into one of your videos about 6 years ago and we're addicted. You guys offer the usual "See what's in Texas" theme, but with ridiculously stupid humor. And I mean that in the BEST way. Keep doin' what you're doin' and thanks for it. Pretty sure your videos are more entertaining and persuasive to get my kiddos out and about than I am. Props to everyone involved. Ya'll feel like family at this point. FYI...I'm a Fannett guy. SETX shoutout.... 👍

Imo this probably the best state park in texas for pure hiking. So many trails and nearly every one is different. The Gorman falls is unique. The Spicewood springs is fun to swim in. The overlooks are plentiful and much to explore. I've been 3 times and still have more I want to see. Great video!

What makes it special is that it's unknown, uncrowded. Gorman Falls and the main park area near the river get swamped with people. But the back country trails... you can have them all to yourself. Gorman Springs Trail runs to a natural spring, and it looks straight out of the Shire. Trails to the north traverse some great cuts and small canyons. Tinaja Trail is tough, but worth the views. Lively Loop/Windmill Trail is usually deserted. Great if you just want to camp out for the night. Spicewood Canton Trail has other people on it, but it forces you to climb down a waterfall. Miles and miles of repeatable fun, all in a place few people go. Inks Lake down river, just two dams away, and it's packed most of the time.

The "trail" sucks. Very rocky. Once you get to the river and waterfall it's a beautiful spot.

Remember the day when we were encountered by a rattlesnake while walking to Gorman falls . Terrified a bit but completed our hike to Gorman falls .

Spent two nights there in early April. When you say remote you aren’t joking. I do wish the park had showers as would definitely stay longer.

What’s there to do there? Is it worth it for a 4 hr drive for a 5 minute sight seen

Spend the day there.

It’s definitely worth the drive if you like to camp or hike - many many miles of trails and the best river camps… There are also cabins you can stay in just outside of the park, and if you’re there on a weekend the Bend General Store throws a good party! Happy travels!

The scorpions glow because their exoskeleton is made of keratin like our fingernails, teeth, and hair etc, and the keratin makes stuff glow under a black light.
