My hometown! My great grandfather settled down there in the early 1900s and built many of the rock-wall homes and water wells in the area. During WW2, he built a small shed next to their house on S Archer St and packed all of their belonging into it, and then took everything else along with my grandfather and his siblings to Oregon to help build ships for the war effort. When they came back years later, their stuff was still all in the shed, and they unloaded it back in the house and kept on. My grandparents lived in that same home up until 2021 when they had to move in with my aunt for health reasons. My grandfather passed early August of this year. He was the last surviving charter member of Harris Avenue Baptist Church -- my great grandparents helped build it. I think about moving back there often.

Sure makes me miss my old hometown. Grew up there, way back when South Jackson turned into a dirt road. Lived most of my adult life there before moving to New York and then to Florida. Gotta get back before long...I'm an old geezer now and ain't that many bricks left in the road. :)

My Dad lived right next to Fort Concho and they ate food from the river so they did not starve to death My dad refused to eat fish the rest of his life Grandmother worked at Fort Concho I don`t know what she did. What bothered my Dad the most is that Black people had no rights and the people there said"well that is the way it is'.
