I was at that wolf centre several years back and we got there at feeding time. They had a moose hide that had been frozen into a block about 3' on a side. It took 2 of the young staff members to pick it up and throw it out the door to the wolves. The alpha male grabbed it in his jaws and started flipping it around like it was a big pillow. And these are Algonquin wolves - smaller than a grey or timber wolf. Truly awesome creatures.

Dear Dale, I am so glad that you saw first hand how awesome wolves are. At the sanctuary we’re I worked, we had Gray, Alaskan and Wolf Dogs. To show how smart they are, one of our volunteers developed cancer unbeknown to him. Do you know, the wolves stopped going to him because they knew that he was sick. He couldn’t figure it out until he found out about the cancer. I’m to old now but I sure do miss interacting with them. Have a Merry Christmas!

Those wolves are Grey wolves, not Algonquin, Eastern or Red wolves. The original pack were grey wolves as well from a sanctuary in Michigan. Algonquin wolves are indeed much smaller due to breeding with coyotes over the years.
@dalevalentine1721

@@marksmith9295 I stand corrected - they are indeed a subspecies of Grey Wolves: Western Timber Wolves, according to the website of the organization that manages them. They lost several of them a few years back when someone cut the fence in a misguided attempt to "return them to the wild".

Its amazing how much beauty a blanket of snow will add to a forest . Your shots of the forest and water are of magazine quality top notch. As a young lad I grew up in the hills of Kentucky . I remember mom starting a fire in the cook stove every morning. We had a ice box until we got a frig with the motor on top .We got to run through the hills explore all the small streams that was a good time. Thank you sir for allowing me to tag along on this wonderful journey . Be safe stay well until next time.

Excellent video! Loved the electrical part. I was impressed when our campout cabin got electricity. My girlfriends brought all kinds of electric crap. The breaker kept goin out. I was in charge of flipping it. Just so we could eat breakfast! We had to make campout rules! No TV'S, no microwave, an a few others. It was really nice to be able to see the yard without a flashlight. Worked in a resale/ antique store for 17 years before I retired. Love those places! Beautiful scenery at the beach and good music too. Thanks

Shawn, I so enjoy watching your channels. I used to live in the Adirondack Mtns. Home was 40 miles from the Canadian border. Our property was shown as being in the wilderness area on maps. Our environment was so much like the area where you live. Get kind of home sick sometimes as your videos show areas that look just like the ones where we traveled and canoed. Loved seeing the wolf compound. I had an Alaskan Malamute/Siberian Husky mix dog. Her coloring and face especially were more wolf like. Her legs were long like the wolves and she weighed nearly a 100 pounds. Was nice to watch the wolves and Cali girl in the water. We also had large beaver dams in the area too. Sometimes the dams would flood large areas of the land. Love how your cabin has come together and when you film the wilderness with the drone. It is priceless ❤

I'm a country boy who moved to the city. I still own 40 acres in the wilds. Built my own cabin from salvaged materials mostly. A grip of which are 9x9 hand hewn timbers from a late 1800s barn. My happy place. In between my visits...I live vicariously through you. I'd share pics if I could. Cheers brother.

Shawn, one thing I don't see you have that you definitely could benefit from is a wood stove heat reclaimer. You install this on your stove pipe a few feet above the top of your stove. Much of your heat goes out of your home through your stove pipe. This will not only reclaim much of your heat, BUT when your stove has only coals in the early morning, and no one wants to walk across the cold flour to restart your fire, this will heat up your entire house hot as you like it. You only have to fill your stove twice a day with a damper. I used to heat a two story 2,000 sq ft house with just one wood stove and often it was 20 below outside, yet 80 degrees inside.

Did a remodel job for a woman several years back. She had a pure blooded Timberwolf and a wolf/husky mix. Those dogs got to know the sound of my truck and were at the gat waiting for me every day. The Timberwolf would jump and place it's front paws on my shoulders and it' head would be above mine and I am 6'1. I happened to be installing a larrger window in the basement foundation and was doing the excavation by hand . While digging I would get a paw tapping me on the head, over and over, until I ackowledged that wolf and got out of the hole to wrestle with him or play tug of war or run with them aroung the large back yard. Amazing animals.

Wow, see those orange eyes on the black wolves? I saw one once at dusk while driving, here in Wisconsin Northwoods. Its eyes shown like fire balls in the head lights on the shoulder of the road. My daughter thought a cinnamon colored wolf was a German Shepard and she was calling it to come to her at our driveway, waiting for school bus. I came out on the deck and sId, "Noooo! Thats a wolf, get back inside!" ~Chiquamagon & Nicolet National Forests.

My wife gives me a ribbing sometimes because during the week I am a contractor working construction and on the weekends to relax and give my body a break I go hunting, fishing or scouting new spots and she comes along. One day while trudging through a rice field in pretty deep mud and water to set up for duck hunting she stops and tells me "I might have to stop relaxing with you on the weekends for awhile" and then starts laughing.

This type of griddle is very popular in the southwest U.S. and new ones are found in flea markets here in Texas, where I bought mine.

I've actually cooked on a regular wood-burning stove at a friend's place in New Mexico. A friend asked how u control the temperature? Told her you just move the pan off the burner. 🙀 The look on her face was priceless! Growing up, we had a large Ben Franklin stove as a fireplace in the livingroom & that's where I first learned to do it. We cooked on that when weather was bad & our propane tank was low for the kitchen stove. A definite positive experience. ✌️

And sure enough, he had raised it from a pup. He has a wolf refuge/rehab here in Arizona. I have a Great Pyrenees, and this wolf was half again the size of my huge male Great Pyrenees!
