Good advice. Fun to watch. I was the orders clerk at the reception station back in 1978-9. Then, I was in the operations area giving the initial briefing on UCMJ and getting people on their bus to their BCT units. Nice to see women drill sergeants integrated into all aspects for everyone. Men and women were totally separate when I was in. This is a much healthier way now. I finished up my enlistment there, and that was followed by going to UCO in Edmond, OK, where I became involved in ROTC. I mention this because after commissioning, I was assigned to Ft. Wainwright, AK, and there I met up with CPT Rudolph Cachero who was the Company Commander for the Ft Sill Reception Station when I was there. Small world.

I did Fort Sill July 1983. It rained twice, the conditions were tougher, and while the drill sergeants couldn't lay hands upon the recruits, they still had a great deal that they could do to you, and they laid it on thick.

I went to Fort Knox, Kentucky for my basic (2010-2015). I definitely don't regret my experience. those 4 AM PT workouts, I don't miss tho.

I was supposed to do basic at Ft Jackson in 2000 but they were too full so after 2 weeks if waiting around to start they put us all on a small plane and shipped us to Ft. Sill. What an experience

Nice. I spent half my childhood at Ft. Sill/Lawton (the other half in Germany). My dad was a DS at Ft. Sill in the late 70s, then got his Warrant. I did my Basic and AIT at Ft. McClellan, Alabama. Funny how 90% of the Basic Training Company/Battery areas and building all look roughly the same across the Army.

My son left Tuesday for Fort Sill Oklahoma basic. He will do his AIT at Fort Gordon. Which is where his home is. We are bless to have him leave for just basic. He will be Stationed at Fort Bragg which is just a couple of hours away. Thank you for your videos and service to our country. Luckily we have a lot of military in our family that was able to give our son advice. My x step dad got stationed ait at Fort Gordon, than to Fort Sill, than Fort Campbell. My dad was stationed at Fort Drum, New York, Fort Gordon, and Mom and Dad was stationed in Germany. Thank you to all of our future military, military, and veterans and their families.

I can't agree with the Whitesox as an Angels guy, but I went through basic at Ft. Sill too. For those that haven't been, remember, it really is all just mind games. You will look back and laugh at the nonsense. One of my favorites was one our drills was seriously just out to mess with us. Having to toe the line in the bay, everyone had to be in their kevlar vests and brain bucket, One cold weather boot, one normal boot, a canteen in one pocket, canteen cup filled halfway with water in one hand and your toothbrush with toothpaste in another. One guy then starts brushing his teeth, drill spots this and yells "Who told you to brush your teeth!? Fine, everyone brushes their teeth!" So there we stood. Brushing our teeth in this ridiculous get up trying our damnedest to not laugh at the situation. Senior Drill walked in, took one look around says "What a bunch of f***ing weirdos" and walked back out.
