Blizzard’s UX team really really need to watch this video. This is a one hour free ‘returning user’ study.

The thing is, some of his complaints are intentionally designed. Like having to click rewards encourages players to go into shops, where they can spend money. The 900 shops is based on gacha design to encourage more purchases. It’s meant to be confusing so people can feel good when they find a “deal” with the different currencies/shops and give money to blizzard. It works.

@@AXELweirdTigger There are of course a lot of good compilations of Day9 moments. I think Rarran watches one at some point in a video and reacts to it? If you're a fan of card-gamery you can pretty much look up any magic set from the last 5 years and "Day9 draft/sealed/standard" and get a video of him playing that format on MTGArena. There's also What The Deck?! which was a show he did with Noxious (and Brian Kibler makes frequent appearances) where they played viewer submitted decks against each other. Of course, you can also look up "Day9 (your favorite game title)" and see if he's happened to play it. It's always funny to see his opinions on games.

Its actually insane based on last played date - I booted the game up to unlock the new WoW Hearthsteed reskin (its free, im not gonna say no) and figured i may as well check out some new cards, but unfortunately last time I played for myself was way back around release, so Hearthstone threw me tutorials for every. single. screen. It was a barrage of ~10-15 mins of nonstop tutorial (not even reading, just skipping them all), so my brain just switched off and I went from ''lets play a couple rounds' to 'lets play something else' inside about 30 seconds. That 10-15 mins was not even me trying to figure out how to play the game - it was purely trying to figure out how to quit legitimately through all the forced tutorial popups. In hindsight I should have alt+f4'd The barrier to entry is incredibly high, to the point id be very surprised if anyone actually starts this for the first time any more, and i'm sure day9 was deeply regretting his choice for at least parts of this stream.

The "Hearthstone" label should read "Constructed" and the "Modes" label should read "Other Modes." I suspect they didn't use "Constructed" because they were concerned that players wouldn't know what that meant, both old and new players. They might be right. But they don't know what "Hearthstone" means either (isn't it all Hearthstone?). I guess it's better than a big tacky arrow saying "main game here."
