There was a late Saturday night show on TV called the Midnight Special with Wolfman Jack. That's where this clip came from. The show featured every great band at the time. Another one you should react to is Hocus Pocus by the band called Focus. You will crack up laughing over this one..

The Midnight Special and Don Kirschner's Rock Concert were the best TV venues for live music back then. There was also Dick Clark American Bandstand and Soul Train, but those performances in a lot of cases were lip synched and not done live.

5:25-That was started by the horn players in James Brown's horn players in the 60's..after that,if you were a funk band, it was the thing to do! ( Wish W.C, had more hits, but they were really a copy rock band and lacked songwriting, so..) Fun watching such a beautiful lass like you dancing and having fun with this big no.1 smash! ( We knew it wasn't K.C. because they had more of a louder and song dominant horn section )

The music style sounds pretty similar to KC & The Sunshine Band, but the lead singer for Wild Cherry had a lot more beef and grit in his voice, plus way more vocal range. Harry Wayne Casey of KC wouldn't have been able to sing this song in this key. He learned his lesson when he was starting out and wrote & recorded the music for #1 hit "Rock Your Baby" and realized he couldn't sing that high. George McCrae saved the day and sang it.
@zulkanainbaharuddin2185Ай бұрын
I want to make a suggestion. You would love to hear something different. People love high tone singers, what abt low bass singer & acapella. May be you should react to, Geoff Castellucci singing "16 tons". Acapella grp, Voice Play singing the cover of "Oogie boogie song" from the movie "The nightmare before Christmas".

The whole joke of the song of course was the idea of white guys playing funky music, which even by that time was considered "possible," just like Blue Eyed Soul music by the Righteous Brothers. But my generation was generally more open to acceptance of all kind of music by all kinds of artists. There were many bands with different races in their group, the way it should be anyway.

Hi Angela! Thank you for reactions Do you wanna react to another amazing song by the Carpenters? Perry Como's TV Christmas special in 1974 included this gorgeous interpretation of 'Santa Claus Is Coming To Town' by Karen and Richard Carpenter. Please react to it during this holiday season. It just may put you & all of your subscribers into the Christmas spirit. It does for me every year. Here's the link to the song. It opens with a little intro skit with Perry Como , Santa Claus and the Carpenters before the song begins on that TV show.
