Aah so accurate i just closed my book
@theavodkado3 жыл бұрын
Honestly? I'd rather get distracted by the title. Shows you're actually thinking about it. Six books in five minutes is certainly an exaggeration but 200 books a year or whatever Ruby's read doesn't seem productive. Also, her book reviews and comments sometimes seem shallow or like she's misunderstood the book idk. I'd rather spend a few minutes thinking about the title than rush through 200 books, fifty of which are children's books !!
@samiraansari56863 жыл бұрын
@@theavodkado Whoa there. Reading slow is fine, but so is reading fast. No need to become so judgmental. Besides, people read books for all kinds of reason- children‘s books are often read out of nostalgia, or to remember the things that used to make you happy in your childhood. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. You could have literally just said „Reading slow and thinking intently about things is cool too“ and instead you had to go and tear down the way Ruby reads. Not cool.

Hey Ruby, just FYI when you use your jade roller its best to only roll up and out, and not roll downwards on your face. This encourages your face to keep its elasticity, move blood around and combat the effects of gravity. This is also made easier if you use an oil or oilier moisturizer to lubricate the whole process and pull your skin less ❤️

Another interesting idea regarding de Quincey is how the essay you mentioned is in part a follow up to his Confessions of an English Opium-Eater (highly recommend!) in which he’s sort of capitalising on his ‘scandalous’ persona (de Quincey wasn’t a rich man and was earning a living in the periodical press, although his real ambition was to join the Romantic school - he actually lived at Grasmere for a time after Wordsworth moved out). Can really sense in his writing the transition from Romanticism to Victorian sensibilities and (as you say) the beginnings of literary decadence. :)
