I talked with the Cobra guys as they were fixing the diff bushings for this car on Friday. I had also been watching your videos of VIR in preparation for my trip there the following weekend. Wish I had been able to speak with/thank you for all the help and inspiration you've provided with these videos. Thanks Mr Pace! And thanks HSR for hosting these awesome events!

Casey Quillen...stop by any time! The Cobra Automotive guys did an outstanding getting this Daytona Coupe ready in short order. Daytona is very demanding and the team did a fantastic job by the green flag. Looking forward to running with them again. Thanks for watching. JP

So curious to know the flat out speed on the banking portions of the track

Probably a hair over 200. Leave it on the speedway all the way around and I'd wager it would top out a little over 220.....

In 1964 Pedro DRIFTED his NART '64 GTO around the 180... On skinny R5... The Cobras HOPPED when pushed FAT Goodyear Stock Car tyres.. Small AC frame tubes... Coupe DID go 187 on the oval Ferrari only 176... But quicker thru the infield... So 2:04s -2:12s were average laps.... No bloody Chicanes! An abomination... Forza Ferrari! J.C.

Your forgetting Shelby whooped Ferraris ass in 1965 with 6 races left in the season for the FIA GT World Manufacturers Championship, and at Le mans on the Mulsanne straight they averaged 192 mph except one which ran 197 mph.

An LS really? No you don't ruin a car like this with a crap motor like that
@427Nut3 жыл бұрын
@@josephhensley2601 Carroll Shelby's 1962 Cobra used a body and chassis from one maker (AC Motors), a rear-end from Jaguar and an engine he could only get from Ford. He originally asked Ed Cole at GM for an engine but was refused because Chevy didn't want competition for the Corvette. So he went to see Lee Iaccoca at Ford and he got three 289's that were supposed to be used for the Canadian pickup market. Since FIA rules at the time stated you couldn't change the chassis but you could change the body, Peter Brock designed the Coupe but the chassis was still the Cobra. Keep in mind that Shelby wasn't sponsored by Ford yet (that came with the GT40 in 1966). Hence, Shelby had a "kit-car" his team built and then modified. If Ed Cole was a non-racing kind of guy, he might of given Shelby his engines and we'd all be singing a different tune today. Peter Brock today drives a Superformance Coupe with an LS engine because he said they have more power and are more reliable. It's just a matter of opinion. To each his own.

@troyzimmerman88672 жыл бұрын
@@427Nut Wrong, First Ed Cole gave Shelby 3 vettes which Shelby took to Italy to have sheet metal body's put on, then Zora Arkus Duntov ( CHEVYS SHELBY ) threw a fit and Ed Cole called Shelby and said it never happened and don't tell anyone I gave them to you. Then Shelby went to Don Fry at Ford first, then FRY sent him to Iacocca. Ford then gave him 25k and gave him 2 221 cid v8s. When they got going the 221 was replaced with the 260 cid. A total of 75 260's were sent, then the 289's replaced the 260's. All Shelbys race cars were 289's. I raced more SB Chevys than Fords due to high price back in the day to build Ford engines vs Chevy. LS is a awesome motor but should never be put in a Cobra that is just wrong lol. But to each their own. And he was sponsored by Ford earlier than 66 HENCE ' Powered by Ford " I believe around late 62 or 63. Ford again Sponsored Shelby for the Mustang in 66.
