I got the Daytona myself @ HFreight. I love it. I picked it for my garage because it's got a low enough profile to go under my BMW Z3 Roadster, my Jetta TDi commuter, and it's Tall enough reach, and brawny enough to lift my Ram 1500 4WD Truck.

I got the Pittsburgh for 136 out the door from Harbor Freight. The Daytona was nicer but they were out of it. My mechanic and the salesman at Harbor Freight said get the Pittsburgh unless you’re going to be using it a lot. It’s a lot better than the Honda jack that came with my car.

The Daytona Super Duty 3 ton jack is the SnapOn jack. Same manufacturer, same factory, same assembly line, same exact jack. Best floor jack for the money. It's the only Daytona jack with the 3 year warranty. Goes nearly 24 inches up, it's about 3.5 inches tall all the way down, has a larger pad, reaches full height in 4.5 full stroke pumps, has larger front wheels with grease fittings, and has multiple grease fittings all over the jack and is easy to service if air needs to bleed out or fluid topped off. It's 104 pounds but rolls with the push of a finger. Can lift my Duramax just using one of my arms. Edit: All hydraulic systems will slowly leak down over time, both manual or powered hydraulic systems, new or old. Also, I've had a Torin Big Red 3 ton compact jack for about 15 years. Finally blew out a seal. Very versatile in small tight spaces. Can swing the handle 360 to any position you need, and has an extension section for the pad. Takes forever to pump up but it's my second favorite jack next to the big Daytona Super Duty.

Most of the time it comes down to cost as which will perform better than the others. So, in 2021 the Pittsburgh 3 Ton Low Profile was $99 ON SALE, and as of Sept. 2024 retails at HF for $159. I bought the Pittsburgh 2 Ton LP for $119 on sale here in Sept. 2024. (retails $139) The Daytona 3 Ton LP is now $179 at HF. Craftsman generally has been a brand you can trust and you pay for the brand name. Craftsman a basic jack was good back in the day but now many cars require Low Profile such as my 2023 Toyota Camry XSE V6 to avoid the handle smacking into the side of the car. I am surprised that the Aluminum jack has not bend or warped or started to leak as known not to last as long as the steel made jacks, also 1.5 Ton is practically useless on any vehicle larger than a Honda Civic or FIT, Subaru WRT, or Mini Cooper. For Pickup Trucks and large SUVs need a 4 Ton Floor Jack which are heavy jacks to pick up. I really would have liked the Daytona 3 Ton LP Long Reach but not at $239 which weighs 103 pounds vs the Pitt 2 Ton LP at 54 pounds which most people can lift up off the ground with no problem. Do not buy any Pittsburgh or Dayton Jack Stands as there has been a major Recall as they were defective and dangerous. Please get Husky 3 Ton Jack Stands from Home Depot or Torin Big Red. Remember that most products sold at Harbor Freight are made in China, made of low quality, typically cheaper, and Never spend the money for a Protection Plan/ Extended Warranty. At times you can ask the manager to visually inspect or test the product In-Store before buying. Note or word of advice: Be SOBER when working.

The only thing that scares me about the expensive jacks as they are twist to release. On my cheap jack you have to remove the handle and deliberately turn that knob counter clockwise. It feels much safer in that sense.

What I want to know is the oil refill plug rubber or screw on type on the Dakotas? I just found out the Pittsburgh jack has a rubber refill plug. I don't like that. For me those things, rubber plugs, are a pain in the ass to get out and a pain in the ass to get back in.
@jcx2bby Жыл бұрын
This is a great question. I had not even thought about comparing that when I made the video. I took off the cover that I pointed out at 4:13 in the video, and under there on the Daytona is the fill plug, which is a metal screw in type. I'm not sure about the Pittsburgh as I no longer have that jack. Regardless, you shouldn't need to fill oil into any of these Jacks on any kind of recurring basis.

Thanks I'm debating on the Pittsburgh and the Daytona myself. I have a Craftsman 2 1/4 ton that i've used for about 10 years. A couple of years ago it started to sink relatively quickly and I've got a repair I needa do where I could be under the car for like 10 minutes that scares the crap outta me with a lowered car. With inflation, the Daytona is now $50 more than the Pittsburgh. For $25 more it's kind of a non brainer to go with the Daytona. Even though it may be considered an off brand, the Daytona Jack feel almost like a Lexus of jacks to me. I'd like the Daytona just cuz it looks nicer. I probably only use it 4-5 times a year though. But I feel like it's something that'll last me the rest of my life almost so maybe get the better one anyways. Surprised me that the Daytona dropped at all overnight though.
@jcx2bby Жыл бұрын
To be fair to the Daytona, it was brand new when I made this video and I have used it quite a bit since, without noting any drop under extended use. I haven't measure it either, so who really knows but recently I had it under the front control arm of my FJ for about 2 weeks and it held up just fine.

You don't put your fuc*in car on stands? You just get under your car counting on just the jack to keep it from crushing you?
@aznnp77 Жыл бұрын
@@garonjohnson5922 Of course I use stands. But When I'm under the car risking my life, I like as many safety protocols as possible. The jack, two stands, and a third jack stand for good measure. Still scares the crap outta me getting under the car. But with my jack sinking, it's just the 2 stands and the third one sometimes doesn't fit under there.
@Crowley1896mass Жыл бұрын
@aznnp77 This isn't real. Just buy the shiny new jack cause your paint is scratched. Don't gotta justify it to these guys. Jack the car up, throw your stands down and get to work. Don't gotta worry about nothing crushing you with good stands down.

I own the low profile Pittsburgh 3 ton and the Daytona long reach 3 ton…I have to say the Daytona definitely is nicer and let’s down the vehicle so much smoother, and is much easier to raise. Also the saddle is a nicer due to the rubber pad and square shape in my opinion. I should add that it’s probably easier to lift because of the extra reach though.
@ranger178 Жыл бұрын
i don't like the new really low-profile jacks because the wheels are too small in diameter and the smallest crack or pebble on driveway makes the wheel stick as jacks move while lifting cars to stay centered under frame and the jack can twist. this is much more of a problem in aluminum jacks, but it can happen with steel also.I got jack from tire rack aluminum 2 ton and it twists at the drop of a hat my old 1980s steel jack with large front wheels is much better.
