The red roof farm shed is a really good group base. Requires 2 walls and that’s it. You can fit a truck or a car and have plenty of space for a couple of tents

Wooden Long Barns are a solid option but you will need to build walls inside to layer the building's walls as the wooden walls are very thin and players can easily shoot through them and wall bang if you aren't careful. This tip will come in handy if you build in these locations and get online raided and if you need to defend your base. Before you build in these places or anywhere else, ALWAYS check the materials of the walls and penetration values than ammo has in these locations. WOBO has videos on this topic and I would recommend you go check them out. These also come in handy not just for base building, but also situations where you must defend yourself against other players trying to kill you.

With the church building me and my mate made big gates around the back and front of the church and we could store abar 2 trucks in the front and a few cars and the same in the back and we just used the inside for tents and that would recommend this for a starter base takes time but worth it

my 1st base as solo i built an 2 door airlock inside an 8 storey double watchtower with a huge tent sticking out the side like 50ft up. 1 week it was up, then came on to find overnight raiders took 16 barrels 16 crates and loads of tat. oh they stole all the planks and nails from the walls and stairs leaving just a shell

True, you can double up fences and barbed wire, so they may be able to get over 1, but the next will be trickier. Alas no base is perfect in DayZ.

Rules of official, at some point in time. People are gonna check all buildings listed on the map. Either through pathing or people looking for bases. You're gonna get raided eventually

Can anyone open those gates to walk into the base? You have to put a digital lock on them to keep outsiders out correct? I haven't done any building myself yet but I have freely gone into some people's base's and stash areas and take their stuff. 😂

Yep a 3 or 4 combo lock is needed for Vanilla to lock a gate. On PC with Mods typically a Digital Lock (code lock) is used.

Hmm! Check an online map for ideas. It's hard to say any one place is safer than another in DayZ. But sometimes off the beaten path can be helpful.

Solid base, just expect some completion for it on official though. Also it can be hard to block off the top windows, so if its a location that they can get on the roof, it can be troublesome.

Best base building is find a dense bush and load it with crates. Had mine coming up to 2 years.

They are, it's a different experience. BBP fixes a lot of issues such as having ceiling so players can't just boost over walls.

Unfortunately 4 or 5 grenades & you're base is finished. Walls should take 10 nades in my opinion to even be worth building.

I am hoping they fix this. They just fixed Shooting through the gate to hit the wood frame. They just haven't fixed explosive damage yet. The problem is the explosion clips though the facade and hits the wood frame behind it. I just saw a dev post that they are aware though. Best you can do now is add layers of walls.

My base has near 70 walls in a place with 2 MS3 and 2 cars with 2 large military tents and a medium tent and like 30 crates of loot-hehe. it is one of the biggest bases I have ever seen. I have to sleep, but my partner is on another time zone and we even have BC gear ready in case someone attacks with chem so we guard it and run out to play, but we have everything so the fun is kinda not as cool as we have the best everything on a non-modded server-haha.

@@Nitno yes. Seal off the 2 entrances to the ship. Watchtowers built on the top level where gas is non existent to shield from snipers on the hill. Kill zeds to gain more filters. As of 1.17 ZZZ gas masks can be rebuilt using charcoal tabs. Any raiding party will have to have numerous NBC outfits. One for each alt. (Most players can't even come up with one complete suit. Bring more zombies up from n. Berezino and make a crawler army out of them by shooting them in the leg. They'd be hidden by the tall grass and wreck havoc on any raiding party. Grenades can be tossed over the edge down on any raiding party. Unraidable if done right

@@xraydog92 you would need a hammer on you and more nails because you loose out on some when you dismatle a gate. Plus you can have two exits out of your base which will fix the issue. Plus if you have good enough gear in your base you can destroy any way or ALT accounts as well can just login and destroy it from behind. It sounds smart but isn't that hard to fix.

Additional layers of walls helps, as mentioned. But yes bases are raid-able, that's the nature of DayZ. Still worth it if you enjoy base building and know going into it, that nothing is permanent in DayZ.

Dayz should go back to raid tools for raiding so only doors with locks can be raided. Otherwise base building is totally pointless as it is. Patching windows is only gonna save you from a few grenades.

Base building on official servers is dumb. I built a 5 gate base and that night it got destroyed. I decided to build empty bases to mock the raiders and just drop crates with my loot in ponds around the map. They never get hit...
