I never really noticed the height standards that were put on men until I identified as one. After I came out as trans, everyone was telling me "Oh, you're 5'4", most girls are that height, you'll never pull a girl shorter than you." "Most guys are 5'6" and above, you'll never be a REAL man at that height" and I just wanna say, Daz, that this video especially has changed my perspective on masculinity. Because you're right, everyone is just built different. I'm a short, 5'4" dude, and I don't give a rat's ass about it. I'm not short, I'm just fun-sized. My point is, thank you. Thank you for that new perspective. I genuinely appreciate it. (Also, I freaking LOVE your videos!)

Listen to what Daz said, everyone is beautiful in their own ways. I'm a big fluffy man who once thaught that I needed to lose some weight to attract women. I went to the gym and lost a lot, I was 220lbs and 6ft tall at that time. But you know what? It didn't help because I didn't believe in me, so I got back to 290-300 because I started to eat my emotions. One day I decided that it was enough and I had to work on me, FOR ME. I gain confidence over the years and it worked! At the age of 23 I met a beautiful women (And a little bit fluffy ahah!). We have been together for 7 years and the love keeps growing :) . my boyfriend is 5’5 (only an inch taller than me) and I love him to death. All the men out there who are insecure with their height, I understand the struggle. But there are plenty of people who genuinely do not care about your height, or some who may prefer shorter men. If I’m someone who’s like this, then there’s more out there as well.
@Pigeonwee3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I'm also a 5'5 man, at least I'm stretching it a bit, it's more the upper end of 5'4, and I'm so insecure. I can take a joke ofc but having the mick taken out of you 24/7 can definitely be draining. Not to mention I'm a man with hips, a bum, and thick thighs. It's like I have the body of a woman which is great for women or those who want that, but when you're a 5'5 aiming-to-be-masculine man there's no way I can make that look good to me. The hope is I grow so I look less stubby and womanly, but I doubt it since I'm past the age you generally stop growing at. What a pain 😂

To answer Daz's question, As a 5'10 girl who has been self-concious about weight, and feeling bigger my entire life I would feel so insecure dating a guy smaller than me. I've always wanted to feel small, so dating someone physically larger than me would just let me feel like a girl. I have nothing against shorter guys, and I had crushes on people same height/shorter. But now that I'm older I would feel really weird in that relationship and it would honestly make me obsess over my weight again and I hated that part of myself. So it does matter mentally for some girls.

@@planetxtraa as a guy who has always been rejected I have to disagree. I’ve been fat and I’ve been fit. Last year I had abs and worked out and everything. I looked great. Then I got Covid and got in a rut for a while. Gained a few pounds and got the smallest belly. Then my girlfriend left (who I had a kid with) so I got even fatter because I got depressed and started smoking weed and drinking and eating a lot. Now if I even look like I’m asking a girl out or hitting on her I get a look like she thinks I’m going to harm her. I’ve even had a girl come up to me after saying completely normal things to her friend and say that I made her friend uncomfortable and like I was going to rape her. Completely normal things. Yk just a normal conversation with a girl I was attracted to and I decided to ask her for her number. Completely innocently. This is how it goes most of the time. If a guy isn’t attractive then he’s automatically a creep.

Daz’s thoughts on body positivity really resonate with me. Everyone is unique and shouldn’t be changing themselves for others (especially their appearance). Tbh though a lot of girls who say “I don’t care about size, height or weight” I can guarantee a lot of them would feel really awkward to date someone smaller. Just like Daz said in the video, on an average most women DO prefer taller guys. EDIT: I thought I would edit my comment because few people below me decided to immediately react with their feelings rather than listening to the truth I was only trying to say! All I’m saying is it’s a normal human response for humans to judge. It’s literally a fact. We as humans all judge and make first impressions of people- it’s literally a natural reaction we do in order to sense danger. People judge, some more than others- but we all do it. There is no point denying and getting defensive of facts. All I’m saying is a lot of people tend to say they don’t care about looks, but when it actually comes to it- I just wonder how many of you are actually committed to what u say. Like for example you know those stereotypical ugly morbidly obese guys u may see in memes? A lot of people say looks don’t matter- but when it ACTUALLY comes to it, a lot of people’s actions speak louder than words. Same thing applies when you hear men saying they “don’t care about looks and they like natural girls.” A lot of men’s idea of natural is still a full face of “natural” looking makeup. And before you people take offence... I know NOT EVERYONE is like this!!!! All I am saying is I just seem to wonder how many people are GENUINELY committed to what they say. That’s all I meant. 🤣sorry for my essay but I feel like u gotta explain things fully to stop people jumping on you🤣

No son, that's just a wrinkle right between my eyebrows lol. We all worry about young girls needing to see "real" bodies, and rightly so, but young boys have a lot of struggles too and that needs to be talked about just as much. Thank you Daz for making me laugh but also keeping things real, no horse shit here haha x

Thus video reminds me of something I heard a while back. "Its fine to have preferences, but when you start treating your preferences as the standard, that's when shit gets damaging". It's okay to prefer taller men/women, it's okay to prefer shorter men / women. But when everyone starts treating their personal preferences as a gold standard, it leads to shit like this. I wanna say fair play to daz for always spreading a positive self acceptance message, it has a wider reach than I think he realises.

It's interesting seeing this sort of measures being taken, it makes me think of my great uncle. He was 5'3, his wife was 5'11, and neither of them were bothered by it. The thing about my uncle was what he lacked in height, he made up for in raw strength. The man could hoist fridges over his head and carry them casually like they were nothing, he could pull a truck with ease, he wasn't a bodybuilder, he was just insanely strong. What really defined him though was his confidence, he never let anyone talk down to him (pun not intended) and he always held his ground if someone tried to bully him. Yeah he was very short, but he could also crack someone's ribs with a hard enough slap. His confidence is what inspired me to be confident about my own appearance, if this short, ginger, mighty mouse looking man could walk into a room like he owned the place, then so could I.

Weirdly, as a guy with a bf, height doesn't seem to bother me, even when my partner is very tall and jokes about it. I think this is a stereotype brought around mainly in straight couples and slightly presented in other matchups.
