They really weren't on the roof together , but now I know where that picture was really taken of Elivs' on the roof of Nickerbocker hotel . A lot of amazing stories !! Thanks Jordan !! Oh BTW , I think I left a comment in one of your other vlog's saying I would love to hold Jau and give him some love . I promise I wouldn't have went that far. lol !! I'm a pretty calm solemn person . I just meant I would be sweet to him if I ever saw him. 😉

The glass window with the red curtains to the left of the entrance was the bar. I visited it in the 1990s when it was called The Knickerbocker All Star Cafe . It was notoriouly haunted and they had Ouija boards sitting on some of the tables for guests. The manager had some great ghost stories to tell us.

Very nice video, you have narrated it very well! I am impressed with the information you possess on history of hotel. I look forward to watching more on your channel. Just a quick note, Harry Houdini died on Halloween in 1926. You are correct that he and Bess devised a secret code phrase that would be used. The phrase was one they had used years before in their vaudeville mindreading act. The message was, "Rosabelle- answer- tell-pray, answer- look- tell- answer, answer- tell". Bess' wedding band bore the inscription "Rosabelle", the name of the song she sang in her act when they first met. Upon his death, Bess held séances for 10 years, just as they agreed to confirm whether or not one could be contacted in the life here after. The final done on cool evening without a cloud in sight upon the rooftop. Her business manager asked her when it was over. : Mrs. Houdini. The zero hour has passed. The ten years are up. Have you reached a decision?" : Yes. Houdini did not come through. My last hope is gone. I do not believe that I will ever hear from Harry again. Dr Saint then escorted the widow out. Just as she left rooftop & door shut behind them a deluge of rain fell from sky just long enough to soak all those who bear witness to séance & were left behind. behind. Minutes , clouds cleared and it was gone..Bess Houdini died 6 years later and is buried with husband in New York.

Not sure about ghost but I would bet walking in there one may feel a different kind of like high strung or vibrations that old Hollywood seems to hold on to. Great Hollywood historical vlog Daze with Jordan the Lion. I'm sure you may have heard about 30's, and early 1940's character actor, Dwight Frye. He played the mad man Renfield in the precode 1931 film, "Dracula". Anyway, could you do a video about his Hollywood history? I would love to see your take and presentation on this under appreciated actor and his ironic last days.

Back in 1997 the Nickerbocker Bar was still open. A guy called "Max" restored and reopened that place a few years earlier and I loved to hang out there. He invited me and my girlfriend for his Halloween Party at the Nickerbocker and man, it was spooky! They tried to get in contact with Houdini, the way Houdini's wife did on Halloween. I'm not too much into Ghost and all that stuff but it was, let's say, interesting. Anyway, as I said, I loved the place and I've been there quite often from 1997-98. Unfortunately Max decided to close it down some years later and reopened it at a different location. I left LA in 1999 and have no clue what happened to Max and his Bar. Maybe one of you guys can find out..?

My Grandpa worked for Southwestern Bell and he and his partner did the communications for all the missions, they worked 12 hr shifts 24 hours a day during every mission. I even have allot of memorabilia from NASA as well as awards from SWB. He was also a master mason however he would never talk about that to me. Cheers love to Jah.

Just think, when this hotel was built, Edison's diamond disc recordings ("records") had just come out, replacing the cylinder records!! Horses were common on the street. And we ruined that beautiful lobby with its 20' high ceiling... and made the whole hotel practically obsolete. Shame on us.

I just had to say this since you mentioned that they’re restocking the grocery store at 3:00 pm., I live near Pitts. PA, and I want to just lose my mind getting groceries around here at that time too. Even our Walmarts’ are really huge here, so we go to the food side & get stuff. The stockers are out at the WORST times!! If they were nice about it I really wouldn’t mind, but we have to stretch over them, squeeze thru isles & they see people doing this & couldn’t care less. If I say excuse me please, they give me that “stink eye” look & sigh. So ignorant, am I right????? 🤷♀️

I wondered off and i walked up to them and and asked them what the x' s were doing on their forheads and they had shaved heads. They were released for some reason i was 7. Wow i still get the creeps. That overhang is not the original facade of the lobby at all. It used to have 3 archways (which you can see have been bricked in and painted over if you look closely above that overhang) and it used to have a fabric awning covering the walkway to the front door. Look up pictures between the 20s and 40s.
