Annie always felt women should be as familiar with a firearm as they are with babies. She's a big part of Old West history! It really is unbelievable that she beat Frank in a competition and yet had a long happy marriage. I think that is rare for the time period. I got my love of cemeteries from my grandmother. Thank you both for taking us on the adventure!

Annie is my cousin on my maternal grandmas side. I have provided Garst with genealogy documentation. Her maiden name was Blanche Clapper and she had letters from Annie that were lost in a house fire near Continental, Ohio. Annie was a truly remarkable LADY and might be the first American Super Star!! When she passed Frank was in Michigan with relatives. He did stop eating and passed there. Annie was very modest and insisted that she be prepared for internment by another female! The Garst is a fantastic museum with a great Annie collection as well as Lowell Thomas and a fantastic documentation of Ohio! Well worth the time! As an aside, Annie had most of her medals and trophies smelter down and the proceeds donated charity, I think an orphanage. Thx for the great vlog! God bless, Bill, Ada, oHIo.

I am a (retired) history teacher. I live in Greenville Township (Darke County). Strong research and presentation on our area. Well done. In addition to Annie Oakley, western Ohio has a great deal of significant history. The Treaty of Greenville (1795) opened up the mid-west to settlement, newscaster Lowell Thomas is from here and the Garst Museum is one of the premier local museums in the U.S.. Neat to learn that you are connected to Darke County and that your grandfather lives here. Thanks so much for highlighting our area of the country.

Wow a great story about a simple lady from a simpler time. She must have been in a great deal of pain to decide to pass away in her own way. When I was a child you could still hear elders talk about her abilities. She was a national treasure and I didnt know who gave her the nickname until now. Sitting bull! Looks like a cool sandwich Maderite..!

JTL, Your Grandpa is a great storyteller! He appears very sharp, very handsome and so very precious too. As usual you did a great job with your vlog presentation and knowledge. The grounds you covered are beautiful. One time my grandparents came to visit our family in the 1980's and a story came up about some dealings with my distant relatives that involved dealings with Anne Oakley but I never found out about "those dealings," however, I know I am not related to her. I wished I asked my grandpa more questions. I was 17 years old during this time & more interested & ready to go out to a dance than ask questions then. Anne Oakley was a fasinating historical legend. "A great shot!"

Very sweet vlog with you and grandpa! The mark of true love from a man is one who is willing to step down and make his wife look good. Hearing how he starved himself after her passing says he wasn't willing to live without her. You hear of a lot of couples that when one passes, it isn't long until the other follows. 'Til death do us part!

Jordan, I get the sense, as you stand over Annie's and Frank's graves, that she (Annie) is truly able to rest in peace. I don't always get that sense. As well, think those two were probably really in love and like with each other, blessed and vitally destined to partner. Terrific, dignified life (Annie). *You bring the sun, fun, and tenderness to/with your grandfather when you visit with him Jordan. I love that you cherish each other the way you do. Enjoy. Thank you for another warm and informative video. Until next.
