I hope you guys see this because what really was amazing about this particular movie is that the guy with the Texan accent that was making the black and white "He soon realised" and "They stopped trying after season 2" jokes is in fact: Christopher Sabat himself, aka the real Funimation voice actor/director behind Vegeta, piccolo, shenron and many more. He used his alias: DJ Sexcidillionaire.

Yeah, 16 is a REAL android. 17 and 18 are technically cyborgs, Trunks even makes fun of that in the abridged series when he hears everyone call them androids. When Cell tries to absorb 16, he complains that 16 tastes like "pure metal", and 16 says "I am ANDROID 16." EDIT: Wrote 19 instead of 16.

As far as SSJ goes, I've always seen it as the saiyans are conserving their energy during fights because going super saiyan and maintaining it for a long time takes an insane amount of concentration and ki. So it's not always a good idea to immediately go super saiyan. But that's just my assumption

The movie took place in a timeline where Cell never showed up, and the Z Fighters managed to defeat the Androids (presumably with the self-destruct button). Hence the reason Vegeta said "Pretty sure that's eight." (19, 20, 17, 18, 16, 13, 14, and 15. if Cell had appeared it would be nine.). Also, this is why in THIS timeline they had to destroy the sublab at the end, since they never knew about Cell so they had to go back to destroy Gero's computer.

DBZ is actually quite realistic with transformations, unless is like the first time they usually go instant, unlike animes like sailor moon where EVERY SINGLE TIME a 5min dance is required and the bad guys just look and let it happen. DB Super actually made fun of it by having 3 contestants in the power tournament do a dance like transformation only for 17 and Vegeta blast them and Goku complained he wanted to see them transform to which 17 says they let their guard down now they paid the price.

Jake Hamilton He modeled the androids fighting techniques on the Z Fighters moves ever since Goku was a child. He was able to record all of their battles up to the point when they left for Namek. I have no idea how 16 is so powerful though.

Sao the show is meh, but the abridged series is really good. However, even though they did 9 episodes of saoa, I've seen comments on how they really dislike the voices of the characters and just not liking it, so they stopped watching it. But if anything, its better to watch sao before watching saoa, to understand the references and the difference between it and the show itself.

Blind Wave+ None of the movies are cannon, only because none of the events would ever tie into the series. Their time frames would never match. The only one movie that could ever actually fit is movie 13. Where they fight against Hideurigan. That event could have taken place anytime after the defeat of (Kid) Majin Buu. If you remember, Goku suggested that they hide Majin Buu for a while until they could gather the Dragon Ballz and wish away everyone's memories of (Fat) Majin Buu since he was the only version of Buu people remembered attacking them.

The timeline Cell comes from is the original timeline, which is similar to Trunk's. I would go into all the other timelines, but it is kind of confusing, and spoiler-y. I will say that there are 4. And no, I'm not including DBS. You can watch DBZ and deduce that there are 4, but again spoilers.

8 years late, but there's two reasons why Dr. Gero didn't create 13 perfect to begin with: A) Androids 14 & 15 were finished first, and he didn't have the patience to wait on finishing 13 before sending them out to kill Goku. B) He wants to control his creations and he's scared of them becoming too powerful to control.

That's not how multiverse theory works. the timeline split at the moment Trunks killed Frieza. So anything past that point is going to be different an and wouldn't effect his timeline. In this alternate timeline 18 and 17 are stronger because Gero survived the first time he turned them on where as in the original they killed him. Thus Gero turned them off and actually made them better as a last bit contingency but decided to make himself and 19 androids instead. Killing Cell when they did and killing the androids would not affect Trunk's timeverse in anyway. Its doomed to be destroyed no matter what. Also androids 13-15 always existed (even if officially 13-15 were never shown in the series) but wouldn't have been completed or activated because Gero died a lot sooner and didn't complete them. The current Cell came from a 3rd timeline where Trunks had defeated the androids already (keep in mind these ones are still weaker compared to the ones in the changed timeline) but first form Cell was stronger and easily killed Trunks. Thus Cell went back in time use Trunk's machine to find the androids. Cell went back far enough to pat the point where the timeline originally split, thus ended up in the main, changed timeline where he is now. Original timeline (Trunks): Androids kill everyone. Trunks goes to past twice. He returns and kills the androids but is killed by Cell. Cell goes to the past before even Trunks comes. Cell doesn't do anything then and this doesn't alter the timeline. Trunks going back first though and getting stronger is what caused Cell to go back though. This is the timeline split from only Trunks appearing in history. Androids are far weaker and far less violent than the altered timeline. Enough so that if Piccolo fused with Kami he would obliterate them. Though this assuming he would have been as strong initially when 20 and 19 appeared if they fused. This is a result of Trunks returning from the past without ever encountering Cell. Main thoughts is that Goku didn't see a need for the time chamber and they defeated 17 and 18 without it. Trunks returned and was able to win because of inferior androids Altered Main DBZ Timeline: Cell appears in past but does nothing. remains the same untill...... Trunks kills Frieza and Goku survives virus. Androids become stronger thanks to Gero survivng their first awakening. 16 is able to be awakened. Z-warriors get stronger. Cell then appears. Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, and Trunks forced to train and get stronger. etc. etc. This timeline is only like this because of Cell making an appearance. Altered Trunks Timeline: This is a branch off the original timeline itself and not off the altered DBZ timeline. The split occurs at Trunks getting ready to go back to the past again to tell his friends he beat the androids in his timeline, but was not strong enough to defeat the new threat Cell. This time Trunks returns to the future after spending more time in the past and training with Vegeta. Trunks returns to his timeline and thus it splits again when he decimates the androids and kills first from Cell instead of vice versa. Cell's loss causes the original timeline to split here, but doesn't destroy the old one because of multiverse theory Multi-verse theory is that any significant change will result in anew universe and timeline. All 3 are a result of Trunks being bale to time travel.

Everything about the time of this movie makes no sense. The 17 and 18 JUST got released and instead of all the events we saw take place, Trunks is still here and 17 and 18 are nowhere to be found. I’m very confident that all dbz movies take place in another timeline

22:58 I get what you're implying but the way the Time Travel works is that when Trunks went back, the timeline he ended up in branched off into a version where his presence affected this. The act of time travel itself created a branched timeline. Hence why Goku doesn't die, the Androids are stronger, Cell dies like a decade before he's ready yada yada. His own timeline hasn't changed since those events happened because there was no Future Trunks to help things out.
