Some great sounds there, but would the hand brake be heard from outside the loco in real life ? The wipers would only be heard if you were close to them or inside the cab. Are these two sounds really necessary ?

You are correct and each sound can be lowered individually 'IF' that's whay you want, but we have 'Play Value ' here, so you van select what exactly you want or do not want !! Your choice. Charlie

did yours run good straight out the box,i bought 31293 just dcc and its aefully slow yo start. ive had a look at cv's but no joy,think its loco or chip issue. you dont happen to have cv 2 3,4,5,6 settings do you. sound is really good but bit too much for me.

Is there a proper cold start option where the engine starts on only a few cylinders like the real thing?

We have done varios recordings of Class 31s over the years, None of them started that way, the loco to do that I can only assume, has to not have been running for a while or not have been primed fully before starting.
