DCC sound fit in Bachmann DMU - easy to do!! - ESU Loksound V5 Decoder - first great western 150

Thinking of trying to fit sound in one of your trains?
Hopefully this will help make things a bit easier!
In this video i will look into what you need to do when fitting a Loksound V5 sound decoder.
explaining what needs to be done to the decoder and speaker,
Showing you a few things on the Lokprogrammer software,
And fitting it into the model.
Hopefully this helps some of you who are a bit worried about this kind of work!

Imagine wiring them speakers in series down the hole consist wit would sound awesome like every engine down the dmu is running thanks for the video

You certainly could get away with a pair of them with an ESU decoder in all fairness! Just need to add a plug. Would be cool!!

@@UndergroundEric I've never had a layout it just hit me i need one lol the wife would kill me if I started taking over the house too with locomotives. It would be cool to have the sound all the way down the DMU could maybe disguise the wires as air hose couplings how is your new 5inch gauge loco coming on 3 off mine have been completely stripped ready for rebuild and some added detail these was quite ruff locomotives they need tarting up a touch

Thats awesome to hear John! Obviously every loco is different, but generally just take your time and ensure no wires are going to cause a short and see how you get on. Good luck!

Lovely loco! I own the newer version of the class 150 (the one with the motor that doesn’t take up the whole coach) I think that I might get sound for it!

Ah cool! Im pretty sure the motor is the same size but im guessing theyve reduced the ridiculous size of the chassis block haha

Commenting on an old video, but I was only made aware by my recent search. You mention using cv30 to determine an esu decoder problem. Do you have direct information from esu, that esu actually uses this optional use of cv30 for error information? For instance, soundtraxx uses cv30 to enable cv15 and cv16, I think, for locking a decoder, not for error information.

I think i just use the standard stuff usually for this sorta model, though i turn the start voltage down for a smoother pull away

@@UndergroundEric I ask because the Lok programmer has a whole set of choices for types of motor. I have just started dabbling with this so thought I would ask. I will stick with "standard" thanks again.

ESU LokProgrammer 5.1.0 is out. Yours is quite old now.

Thanks for the heads up! Ive had a couple issues with it recently so thats good to know there is an update!

@@UndergroundEric It used to tell you there was an update. Also you also might find the running to be unreliable. I needed to add pickups to 2 separate units to make it run right. They fixed it on the later model. Also solder small leads onto the bronze strip coming up from the bogie to the bronze tabs. Eliminates a few issues with continuity.

@@james2004k cheers updated it now and its working better already. In fairness ive not really had issues with poor running from these in the past, i do use electrofrog points ect though so maybe thats part of it
