@jswong820022 күн бұрын
How's the build quality? Does it feel more sturdy? I wasn't keen on items like the Pace 2, Forerunner 55 and Forerunner 165 because they felt really cheap and plasticky. The Suunto Race S has a pretty solid build that puts the midrange Garmin watches (255, 265) to shame. I'm expecting the Polar M3 to have a similarly good build quality I suppose? From this video I see that Coros disappointingly retained an all-plastic construction, even the bezel? A little bit of aluminium could have gone a long way looks-wise if they didn't want to use stainless steel due to weight.
@nachot659222 күн бұрын
It is a solid update but I would prefer these same updates on an Apex model; my watches do take a beating and this having a plastic bezel and a mineral lens would mean it will look beaten up in no time. BTW, I read your written review and there is something I do not agree with regarding the strava integration; I'm not only totally fine with Strava routes not synching automatically, but I find it desirable; they could actually add a toggle for that in case you prefer the other way, though.

I think the problem with Coros’s price is that it really isn’t competing against Garmin’s latest watches, but it’s heavily discounted older watches. You can get a 955 for close to this price. Even the Epix (Gen2) is now on sale for $499. Both have far superior maps and a boatload of other features including Garmin Connect and ConnectIQ. If they could have gotten the price closer to the Pace 3, say under $300, I think they would have a winner where people will accept a lot of the disadvantages (like they did with the a original Pace).

Thanks in advance! - Darian
@LiveYoung022 күн бұрын
@COROSGlobal Garmin has better brand name than Coros; so your value add will be to go with at leats one thing to bring people over to your eco-system. And that I think will be price. $300 / $299 Coros Pace Pro would have done that. Now I am going to dump by Coros Pace 3 for Garmin 265. Eventhough Pace Pro has better battery life and feature of stuff; just b/c price of $350... People who are considering $350 price now will consider $400/$450 watch. $299... would have been a homerun. You guys should have just did like lower internal storage 8GB to bring the price down. If its was $299.. I would have gone with Coros Pace Pro - in an instant. Now you not only lost a loyal customer but I am now going to tell people to just buy Sunto Race S or Garmin 265 on sale - instead of Coros Pace Pro. You guys messed up big time here.
@HULAHULADADA22 күн бұрын
I have to disagree. For watches at a similar price point, I always prefer Coros for these reasons: 1. Battery life: Coros’ battery life always more consistently aligns closer to the claims on their website compared to Garmin. 2. Software support: Coros provides better software support across all their watch models than Garmin. 3. Coros’ app is cleaner and more focused on the metrics I need as a runner. I've had suuto race s since it launched, because I wanted a smaller watch with amoled screen vs my bulky vertix 2. but I ended up still always bringing my vertix 2 for all my runs because the app experience in suunto is not as nice as coros. So just ordered my pace pro and planning to sell my race s
@LiveYoung022 күн бұрын
@HULAHULADADA Coros watch menu interface seems 3rd class, you need to admit that, but now with Pace Pro at least, its brighter and could be more responsive. Garmin 265 - putting hand over screen to turn it off, alone is good enough to switch over, if its same price. Music control is another. People talk about battery life.. yeah have 7 days is great on Coros but 5 days on Garmin is fine.. anything over 48 hrs is fine... when coming from Galaxy watch where I had to charge it twice per day. @_@ Apple watch is daily as well.

Coros actually supports Bluetooth FTMS. How Garmin gets away without supporting that and not a reviewer ever brings it up is wild to me. It’s the protocol that most treadmills and trainers use.
@Dcrainmaker17 күн бұрын
Garmin supports ANT+ FE-C, which was around years before Bluetooth FTMS, and since every single trainer on the planet supports ANT+ FE-C (but not actually Bluetooth FTMS), it makes little sense for Garmin to add support for it to wearables or bike computers, because it limits the concurrent connections (since most of the trainers out in the wild only support a single BT connection, not multiple connections). Add to that, in the age of Zwift/etc, very few consumers ever bother controlling their trainers via their watches or bike computers (as all of these companies will tell you). Low single-digit percentages. As for treadmills, nah, almost none actually support either. Only a handful of the newest most expensive treadmills do, and even then, they only support it for read-only operations (save the Wahoo KICKR RUN, which just started shipping, and no watches control treadmills anyway). If you walk into a gym or hotel, there's approximately a 99% chance your watch won't connect to it, regardless of which protocol it's using. Meanwhile, if we want to get really picky, we'd point out why I didn't mention that COROS doesn't support ANT+ (or FE-C), given that far more trainers support that than FTMS. That of course limits which trainers they can pull power data off of, when that trainer is being controlled by an app like Zwift, since again, the vast majority of trainers in the wild only support a single connection.

Amoled will likely be a great medium for those who have been looking to jump ship from Garmin but this watch just looks like a toy. That’s one downside with this one and some of their more colorful watches, the plastic used looks so toylike that it’s hard to justify the increased price point in my opinion. Also those colorful back buttons don’t help lol. Like just make it a neutral color if you want some contrast. Or make the buttons changeable.

@Dcrainmaker21 күн бұрын
First, my hair on my arm is blond, thus, it actually doesn't impact much in the way of optical HR sensors. Second, virtually no normal consumer is shaving their arms to improve optical HR sensors, and thus, me doing it certainly wouldn't represent the norm. Third, my skin and arm hair (combined with a decade of me knowing how precisely to wear optical HR sensors for the best possible results), means i'm pretty much the easiest test to pass. If a HR sensor doesn't work on me, everyone else is hosed.

Probably to an extent. But that's the thing about smaller companies, they can afford to go all-in on features and price-ratio without having to worry about killing off upper-tier units. In fact, that's what made the very original Pace popular years ago, COROS didn't have to worry about higher-end units that (at the time), didn't exist. These days of course, they'd likely say those higher end units have better materials (e.g. titanium or sapphire displays), as reasons to purchase those. (Though, as one who does this for a job, it's always kinda funny, because short of a plane crash, it's impossible to break any of today's "plastic" watches. And heck, they don't scratch like the metal bezel watches. Likewise, the mineral glass displays of today are so strong I never see scratches on mine, despite constantly whacking into stuff...but...so be it...).

I was wishing the same thing then i realized garmin pay isnt supported by my bank and a lot of other banks where i live and i could just carry my debit/credit card in my shorts back pocket without feeling it cuz it weighs 10 grams and works everywhere, imo nfc watch payments like garmin are a nice idea but not great execution unless its apple or android so better to save money

When I first heard of Coros I figured they copied Garmin. Now Garmin needs to start copying Coros now.

Out of curiosity, which feature should Garmin be copying COROS from (outside of putting mapping in lower-priced devices, which I assume will happen in a Forerunner 275 or whatever)?
