@deephack , I just wanted to say your tutorials are probably the best that I’ve come across. Easy to understand and retain, to the point, and not over done. Much appreciated sir

Been looking around for some good tutorials on the Harrier as I've been learning it lately, and so far yours are by far the best! A few of the official in-game tutorials are actually broken to some degree as they haven't been updated in forever, after some weapons have been taken away, and the new weapons have nothing.

Super useful, thank you. I looked a bit further into this and came up with some questions: 1.) Is there a way to do mixed launches of gbu-38 and gbu-54 in one run, designating targets for each? 2.) The automatic allocations of target points from the ATHS only happens on the ground, how do I do it in the air? 3.) In a MP mission, a CA player can designate ground targets for you by using markers (tested, awesome!), however, when refreshing the ATHS target list, you will eventually end up with more than 10 target points. How do I overwrite target points? 4.) Is there a way to transfer over spotted targets from the TPOD to TGT points? 5.) Is there a way to copy markpoints into target points (which would be a workaround for question 4). You seem to know a lot about this bird, maybe you can help with those as the Harrier suffers from a horrible manual and Chuck's Guide is currently being overhauled.

Glad you liked it, I'll do my best to answer your questions here. 1) No sadly not, the weapon profiles in the harrier can only contain a single weapon type. 2) Target point allocation works the same way in the air or on the ground. 3) That is something I didn't know and sounds excellent. You can delete ATHS targets from the CAS page by going to RECALL, use the up/down arrows to put the * on the record you intend to delete and press ERAS on the ODU. 4) You can create markpoints in the usual way using the TPOD, there isn't really any way to convert that into a target point without manually entering the coords into the CAS page. You could of course WP designate the markpoint and do a TOO attack. 5) Same answer as above really. If you must have them as target points you need to manually enter them or have them transmitted to you.

@@deephack Thanks for your detailed answer, I'll go and try out erasing CAS targets immediately, while completing my Sidearm LOFT table...

@@deephack one thing I've noticed is when you load the points in CAS, you can designate the top one as T1 via the use function and it should auto populate the rest. I haven't had to manually enter T2, T3, Etc.

First and foremost, thank you for your time and effort in making these tutorials. The AV8B is my pride and joy. I grew up a US Marine brat and served in the Marines. Until I retired, I’ve been around them most of my life and always wanted to fly one. Now I do in vCSG-3, VMA-513. I am loving every minute of it. I do have two follow up questions regarding this tutorial if you don’t mind. 1. When “rippeling”, when you pickle the ord, did you press pickle for each bomb or did all 4 release with one long continuous press? 2. Once your targets are on the target list, is it okay to remove the markers you created on the F10 map before you take off? Thanks again for all your work on DCS.

You're very welcome, thanks for supporting me. Answer to #1 you need to hold the pickle button down, releasing early means that only part of the stick will drop. Answer to #2 yes you can remove the markers after they have been loaded into the CAS page.

I still don’t get it, how can you target 4 at once. I tried to do it but only get one at a time. It alwaysN0. Please explain.

I'm going to be making a bonus video for the JDAM shortly so I'll try to demonstrate that fully.

Great explenatiion mr deephack, I had one question, so in other tutorials (and in the f18) you can see a circle on the map instead of a red line when getting in range, is this another method? or did they change the symbology since then? Also on my hud it was displaying AUTO instead of GAUT, it still dropped the bomb and hit the target, is there a differnce?
@deephack
@deephack 2 жыл бұрын
You're very welcome. The symbology in the harrier is completely different to the hornet, that's why this method looks different. I think AUTO mode is correct for GPS guided weapons as they don't need elevation data.

Is the 100% chance a momentary thing or can it be sustained? If the former does it make sense when doing multiple drops to drop before it reaches 100%?
@shagrat47
@shagrat47 3 жыл бұрын
No, you need to mitigate between multiple drops. It's mostly about giving the bombs enough energy to maneuver, not necessarily "accuracy".

JDAMS seem to lack the precision of their Laser guided brethren, a couple of these missed which i also see with JDAMS, good tutorial though :-)
@deephack
@deephack 3 жыл бұрын
JDAMs are perfectly accurate in so much as when they are released within parameters they will generally hit the coordinates that you give them. However standard co-ordinates are only accurate to within something like 2 meters. That is why laser guidance can be more accurate because it's accurate to within centimetres. In short it's not the guidance that is the issue, it's the target designation.

Have found if I zoom all the way in on F10 map it allows for max accuracy in placing coordinates. Doing this and dropping within parameters results in kills 95% of the time. Soft targets (SAMS, light armor, etc.) are almost always destroyed. Heavy armor requires almost direct hit. Is also why I always carry the gun pod with AP rounds- can generally finish off stragglers.
