Hey guys! I know that I don't have many JF-17 Thunder tutorials, if you'd like to see more, please let me know! And unpopular opinion... The Jeff looks better with the refueling probe hehe!
@Eagle01ph
@Eagle01ph 3 жыл бұрын
I like it with the probe on as well... It feels like I left something behind when it's not on. An AAR tutorial for this plane would be nice, since it's kind of like the AV-8B where the probe is off to the side. It's kind of difficult specially in VR.

I love what Deka are doing with the Jeff. I know it hasn't got wing flex yet but the fogging and the inability to update the data cartridge with the canopy closed (knock knock knock) adds a realism no one else has. They really are changing the (ahem) game.

Quick thing to note with the IFF! You need tell the JF-17 to both transmit and receive in Mode 6. After doing what Spud demonstrated at 15:10, you're going to want to click the upper right UFC arrow next to the period button, and set Mode 6 on that page as well. That way, you are both interrogating and responding to interrogations in Mode 6!

the majority of dcs servers use the ''magic-iff'' arcade iff simulation option. i dont remember if you can just turn on your interrogation mode 6 with magic-iff server option or if you need to set your reception mode 6 too.

One thing that is very important on this Aircraft, especially if you are employing precision Air to Ground weapons is to use Great Circle, or GC INS alignment instead of FAST INS alignment. You can do a GC alignment by simply turning the INS knob all the way right to the GC position after inputting your coordinates from the kneeboard in the UFCP. The alignment process automatically acquires the correct True Heading from the inputted coordinates and the Coriolis effect, so you do not need to input it in the INS page. The alignment process takes 4 minutes to complete, after which GC and ALIGN will flash on the INS page and HUD. You can then turn the knob to NAV. GC alignment is more precise than FAST and drifts much less. Even with HNS enabled, FAST mode is very unstable and can create errors that can cause IAMs like the GB-6 or LS-6 to miss by tens of meters. In fact, FAST alignment should only be used when you have to scramble to intercept incoming fast movers. GC is the standard alignment mode, and should be used pretty much all of the time.
@smokie01uk
@smokie01uk 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for explaining this process. I had the exact problem you device with the LS-6 in a server over the weekend. I could get it to hit the target if I had HNS turned off, but then the HSD would not track my position. With HNS on HSD worked but the LS-6 missed by a long way. Thanks again for the clarification 👍

You don't have to go back to nav mode to load the data cartridge. Also you can have the ground crew load the position of the aircraft with the / communication command. Last prior to take off make sure your zero switch is set behind the SHARS switch. This zeros out your data and comms codes if you eject. The Thunder/Fierce Dragon is easy to setup or use.

5 months so you probably figured it out by now, but for anyone else you need to go into the ground crew radio menu... something configuration and uncheck the ladder and engine covers button to make the ground crew remove them. Then it will start. Just spent hours with the same problem.

Getting a new PC in about a month and can’t wait to start in DCS! I have my heart set on the X56 HOTAS but if anyone has any major objections then let me know (bearing in mind I am completely new to flight simulation). I think I’ll be looking at getting the F-18 too but sometimes the F-16 looks too good to turn down so any help in that decision would be greatly appreciated. Absolutely loving binge watching these missions and I aspire to be an integral part of one of them with my friends in the next year or so!
@Spudknocker
@Spudknocker 3 жыл бұрын
Hey man, My recommendation would be to spend a few more bucks and get a thrustmaster warthog, you will outgrow the X-56 in DCS very quickly and you wont regret getting the Warthog and it will work great for any DCS World Module!

Warthog is nicer than the X56, but bear in mind you'll definitely need pedals with a Warthog. The X56 has twist rudder controls. Although pedals are more realistic and (most likely) easier to use, some people prefer the twist option for space or other reasons.

I just install the latest 2.7 version, not sure if its the version difference... I found this out from other people's video. You need to press the ground start button for 4 seconds and you forget to mention. This video is basic tutorial so its for beginners so its better for you to pay more attention to important details. We follow what you said step by step and its frustrated the result came out differently and we have to go to other guy's video for answer so that eliminate your audience.

Zaphod Beeblebrox it is true and it’s also very much off the shelf avionics that a private entity could conceivable buy and install in an aircraft of their choice, this very much helps keep the costs down for the aircraft. While the F/A-18 has 3 old screens I would still say the avionics suite in the hornet is superior
