why don't you just replace the two handles for the DCVA valve? you are making a $20 fix to be a $300 one. GOOD JOB!

Thank you for engaging with this content, You have a valid point which I agree with. The gate valve needed replacing so we were already digging up the area. Sometimes it's better to replace the whole thing than trying to repair individual parts. The client was very happy with the work and continues to use us for repairs.

What double check valve is that. Looks exactly like mine. It seems that the irigation guy is trying to push for replacing it without a test gauge. Don't know if I trust him. May do it myself with a proper 1 to 1 replacement. He claims it is broken and limiting pressure to our sprinklers.

@@RADPro Febco 850. You should expect to lose around 4 psi through a 1” DCVA. You can use a pressure gauge to confirm this by testing the PSI at test cock 1 and 4. Flow may be restricted, I would recommend getting a second opinion. I would also recommend a professional replace the backflow, it's the most important part of the system and requires pulling a permit and being tested by a BPAT.

@@irrigationtipstricks7797 it seems that the house pressure is 70 psi, the sprinklers psi is coming down to 20. It's definitely loosing a lot of pressure somewhere. Do you have a recommendation for a pressure gage that would work?

Are backflow preventers always installed underground in Texas? Even in commerical properties?

Just curious, why the 90s?

In my opinion threaded unions where a better option, they give you the flexibility to remove/replace the ball valve or DCV later on if need be plus you added 4 places for the water to slow down by installing 4 90s

Do you test the device?
