Great advice. Deer love apple trees. Just make sure you get a blend of trees that cover August to December. Placement to your tree stands or blinds is also very important. Make sure you get the wind directions right. They also have a tree size between normal and simi dwarf that is good to use.

I dono. I like planting bare root trees myself. I got some nice apple trees last yr 5-7’ tall and there doing great

I lucked out as I have over 100 wild apple trees on my property. They vary from crab apple size to baseball size apples, color and taste. I have been pruning them now for 3 years since I bought this land. I have apples drop from August through November.. I have 70 acres but my problem is my neighbors as they are all Amish. They kill any and everything brown. That means fawns etc . They have 20 kids per household on average. They are nice people but terrible for the environment as the deer numbers are almost nonexistent...25 years ago before they overwhelmed the area you could see deer all over . Now it's not good at all.

Get the same issue here in Tuscarawas county Ohio. They come over from Holmes and Wayne county and decimate the deer population. Entitled to God’s bounty is their excuse.

Of course! And Dan explained that in the video. For growing the tree, yes, bare root provide the best for longevity. However, it takes several more years for them to bare fruit. That's why many land managers who plant trees just for deer -- and don't have a lot of years to do it -- prefer container stock. It really depends on how much time you have and how patient you are with the process.
