special conversation with Sam Stevenson, senior British journalist who covered the Indian elections. His conclusion was far from democracy being in danger as highlighted by western media, it is the West which can learn a few lessons from India.

Sam is absolutely right. I am an Indian living in the USA and I can attest that western democracies are under threat from socialism and woke politics

Thank you Mrs. Smita Mishra for inviting an Enlightened Journalist to discuss current events. He is a learned one. Seeing things from an open mind, recognizing the goodness of people. Most of the time News media assesses from lack of knowledge about other countries and cause misunderstandings in the society. Every society has its own Norms, Beliefs etc. , based on these and other factors they form laws and live by that. This is what world is all about. If it does not look like yours, you should not be threatened by it or try to change it. Thanks again for having the enlightened Mr. Sam Stevenson on your program.

Both the anchor and Sam had a great engaging conversation and it was brilliant to hear. I thank Sam Stevenson to take the trouble to go to the literally heat of the cauldron and take off his western lenses and imbibe India with open eyes. Then only one can sense the rhythm of Indian society and democracy.

The entire world is praising our Hon. PM Shri Narendra Damodar Das Modi, and even our next door neighbour want our PM to be their PM for atleast 5 years. The entire world praises our PM as strongest leader of world in present time. It is the Political partiies in India and in WEST people are unable to digest India's growth as 5 trillon $ economy. Our govt. is taking care of each one of 140 crore people living in this great country.

You can scan the archives of prominent Western newspapers and journals and go back 60 years. The condescension has been around in some way or the other. I can assure you of this The New York Times is more loathsome of Donald Trump and his coalition than all of Bharat 😀

Western media cannot come out of its set prejudices. It has almost become brainwashed by its own inability to revisit its attitudes. The other possibility is that they are hired to do so. Democracy does not exist with media hired to sing a particular song! Daily Express is perhaos one of the few that has shown courage to revisit the set attitudes. Appreciate this.

Thank you Mr. Sam Stevenson for so fair and truthful in reporting about Barath and it’s culture. Hope many, many journalists from all around the world try to see what is happening in Bharath today in an unbiased way. None of us (as an Indian) know what India was like before the barbaric attacks from Muslim invasion for decades and British Colonization and other western invasion all of which destroyed the fabric of our culture. It is only after Our Dear Modi Ji came to power are we seeing tremendous growth in every sector. This is how Bharath could have been had it been ruled by a Hindu from the time of Independence. Barath is a Hindu Nation, like other places in the world who practice their own faith. Barath is one of the most inclusive culture which gave refuge to so many people of different faiths who were persecuted in their own land. Muslims are causing to this day atrocities on our society, although they had their land granted to them at the time of division. They are not fair in letting Hindus live in that place, where they are massacred, temples destroyed, people are forcibly converted, but they want every freedom in Bharath with no questions asked. And out side people show concern about the safety of them if Bharath becomes A Hindu Majority Government. It is, it was and it will be “HINDU NATION” for ever. A land of Culture, Compassion, live and let live philosophical attitude, inclusive in nature, respectful, hospitable nature, equality for women. These are (many more) unique qualities of our Country. Any thing wrong with that. If you read and project Bharath in a wrongful way, it is your own shortcomings in life. So, try to know the history of Bharath for its original status, during invasions and now it is coming out after a along, long eclipse to shine again, restoring what it was. Dear Modi Ji has every right to rule our land to our needs, wants and beliefs. Yes, he is inclusive of every body. He is penning rules for humanity, not for a particular group. If any body feels threatened, it is from their insecurities, they can go back to places where they can from Jai Modi Ji!, Jai NEW Bharath!.

I thank you, Sam that is what true journalists do, they actually do groundwork from the source and do not rely on Tweets and Facebook and narratives sent from sources that fit the narrative of their personal agendas. A great insight and hope you can spread this message.

As someone who has lived in both India and the west, the difference in my experience is that people in India believe their vote has a say in how they are governed. In the west voters believe all politicians are loyal to their funders and not the voters

Have always wondered whether other Nations that run Anti India Narratives and try imposing ideas of what India's Democracy is, are willing & open to be seen from Indian Perspective and Lens? They will get a grim view. It's high time that the world defines the Indicators of a great Democracy...with a context of the uniqueness of each Nation, its History, Culture & Civilization

Well done, Sam for engaging on the ground and exploring the reality of indian politics, experiencing the energy of truly diverse voices in festival of democracy, the largest and most challenging electoral exercise on the planet. Vested Western or Western style indian media lack the mental capacity to take experiential dip on the ground, but you have the wisdom to go for experience rather than preconceived belief. No democracy can match India. I live in the West. My observation is that democracy has been organised into communist style of society with very sophisticated camouflage of democratic looking arrangements on the surface. You are right to say the democracy is under real threat in the West than in India. I call Western democracy at best 50% democracy because of the 2 party system. It is guaranteed that one of the two sets of people going to rule the Western countries by turn as in musical chair. No wonder public in the West has developed electoral apathy. The West calls indian democracy under Modi as electoral autocracy, which is a lie made up of prejudices built in 5 star chambers of the West. Congress establishment in India allowed dynastic rule of India since independence from British colonial empire and no Western media called Congress autocratic, dynasty, corrupt and incompetent democratic party. In the social media, public has power to see the reality directly and Modi has nurtured true opportunity for everyone to participate in free medium. Only corrupt and criminals have to go to jail even if they hiding behind their democratic immunity earned by malpracice. Modi is shattering the domestic and international nexus of so called liberals who destroyed freedom. Modi is ensuring that world is truly free from shackles of elite and criminal control of people, even they are hurling daily abuse at him.

Mrs. Smitha Prakash. Respectfully Sam Stevenson is an individual journalist for The Daily Express. Why should he have to explain headlines from other newspapers that are in the top tier of western media. You follow that up with a long winded exposition about why it may be and what is the cause etc he answers briefly then you repeat the method of questioning, this time a bit more politely. He doesn’t have to explain the headlines, just react to your exposition. Then you tell him to talk to his friends in the media to fix this. You are lucky to have such a good natured and good humoured guest. I hope it stays that way. Hopefully one doesn’t say that providing counsel to an individual with an inferiority complex, a persecution complex, validation angst and narcissism
