Nice work on the Plymouth, Dan and good filming Dani (you're getting good at it!). My vote for hot rod vids is to take it somewhere like buddy's backyard track to put it through the 'tests' from mean acceleration, slalom, etc. Burnouts are not my thing so much (everybody does them) but I get it. I prefer to see and hear how she performs as one puts her through her paces. I think I figured out one of the things that makes your videos very good, Dan. Like VGG, it's personality that makes the diff. You're a good on-camera personality (in addition to car mechanic/restoration dude). You are a good host, Dan!

I understand your issue with the kickdown linkage, as I have a old school 350 swapped square body S10, with a somewhat beefed up 700R4. They you they use a throttle valve cable as they call it which modulates transmission pressure and shift points. And of course since I have an aftermarket intake and a generic q jet carburetor which I don't know what it came off of, I can't ever get the combination of bracket, cable throw and attachment point right. It doesn't help that the aftermarket throttle valve cables are such crap. And to change the cable, I don't have any room with the floor pan to get cable to connect to the arm on the transmission from the top, so I end up having to drop the drive shaft, crossmember, and then of course remove the distributor cap because it's so tight to the firewall and I don't want to break it, to lower the tail of the transmission so I can change the cable 😳 and of course the starter and header collector are really tight on the passenger side as well... Oh well I've been flogging this thing for the last 20 years and it is a hell of a lot of fun having that horsepower in a 3200 lb truck. Rock on guys!

It looks good. I'm surprised that kick down linkage fit in there. Those cars came with a 3 piece linkage so it wouldn't hit the firewall. I would modify that top bracket so it pulls straight back on the carb and not down.

the linkage on the manifold has an alinment pin hole , stick a good size nail in the hole to pin the assemle under the car the bell crank also has an an alignment pin hole .. you will have to adjust the linkage to get both pins in. then adjust ball crank to trani, and kick down rod to carb.... this may help...

Dan, I built a 68 Charger back in High School with a 440 and Torque flight. I lost part of the linkage from the carb to the trans so I test drove the car for a few days without it. I had to rebuild the trans in just a few days. The trans had just been rebuilt! When we showed up at the trans shop again they said that linkage controlled some fluids to the torque converter. Driving with it incorrectly adjusted may fry it too. You are right to be cautious!

I am really digging the green bean plymouth as a real decent ride and because of how nice it is, tempts me to say may as well fix the right front fender. I really don't mind the dent as much as its just what this car deserves as it has really risen from the dead. I had problems simular on shift linkage and to get by it made sure I could still get full throttle after doing this... a screw that can go through the gap in that kickdown linkage and the screw had some washers to keep that screw where you put in and on the screw was screw, washer, through the linkage and then through another washer and a nut to tighten it up wherever you liked the shift kickdown to be for working the best. I always hated that if you think ford has so many different things that do or don't fit just because, well chrysler had them beat as their automatics just suck even if you have all the right stuff together and on it... before it lets the transmission die, have a shop that does dodge automatics run through all the pressure valves and what not cause it could be some of the most ridiculous things to plug it up or be out of adjustment like the band on the reverse that also works off second gear I think if remember correctly but my memory sucks. I just know I had to go through this a couple of times and then in came a four speed cause I like shift levers coming out of the floor boards anyway. So Dan, paint and fix just that dent and good to go... headliners are overrated
