I have a 92 that I changed head gasket on. In putting back together, I can't get carbs to slide onto boots. Is there something that typically gets in the way? Tried for days into weeks, just won't slip on.

A good few years ago I bought a grey import CBR600, it had restrictors in it, for the Japanese domestic market. The difference when I removed them was unbelievable! The bike was 10 years old when I got it and I assume the restrictors had been in it from new. It had over 80,000 miles on it when I sold it and the engine was still sweet as a nut. I often wonder whether the resrictors prolonged the life of the engine.

Love the sound of a Micron can. Pure 90's.👍 That seems a bit of a bodge. It's no good restricting the air. If you don't change the fuel too.
@ProjectMan3 жыл бұрын
Like I said I'm surprised it even run 🤷♂️
@welditmick3 жыл бұрын
That is simply not true. They are just a fit and go product, no adjustments required. Do you have any experience with carburettor's?
@paulbudford3 жыл бұрын
I have over 20 years of experience working on two strokes with carbs. And modifying them. If you reduce air flow in, you have to reduce fuel too. Carbs have fixed jetting and can't compensate for the lack of air. Something like the new Lectron carbs are more self adjusting. But still need carefully setting up first. And restrictions to the air box would still throw them off.
@welditmick3 жыл бұрын
@@paulbudford20 Years eh, in that case you should know that restricting air flow on the engine side of things will have no effect whatsoever as all this does is - well, restrict the amount of air being pulled through the carb. IF on the other hand the restrictions were put on the AIR FILTER side, that is when it affects jetting etc, due to barometric pressures through the venturi etc. I used to fit the restrictors in the 90's when they came out. Fit and forget - The small hole fitted to the bottom.

So would this bike be running rich? Lack of air, would you have to adjust the carbs once removing the restrictions? It seems too simple. On my xj600 the restrictions were little plastic top hats that stopped the sliders opening fully. Edit, just read the comments off people who actually know what they are talking about. So no effect on the mixture.
